January 10, 2023 — Museum Advisory Board March 21, 2023 — Marketing and Programming Working Group March 30, 2023 — Collections Working Group Old Business: • Discussed exhibits planned through July 2023 Approved • The Valentines event needed more social media promotion and should not to be during Love Your Shorts Film Festival. • The Chase Event was a great success. Received $280 in donations. Great feedback from attendees. New Business: • Spring Fling has been changed to Fall Festival scheduled on November 25th as to not compete with the Historic Garden Tour held by Sanford Cultural Guild. • Board agrees, although November 25th is "Small Business Saturday", could have a synergistic effect. • Nancy Sepulveda owns "Surrey Bikes" that could be rented during the event. A signed waiver would be required. 1 • Jerry Sullivan suggested outside events take place in early spring or late fall due to weather conditions. • T shirts — new design update • Ryan Handley is working on the vector file and finding a font that matches the old font. • Sean McCann mentioned that the Sanford Historical Society would hold off on t -shirts of their own as to not compete with the Museum. • Good Samaritan Home Portrait reveal and exhibit revamp • Brigitte Stephenson mentioned they are revamping the exhibit for a new painting of Mother Ruby and Timothy Pappy Wilson that will be on display. • Henry Shelton Sanford exhibit revamp, ceremony & 200th Birthday Celebration • This is going to be the major focus of the board. The idea is a Birthday party, with party games, racing rubber band boats, birthday cards. • Jerry Sullivan and Lisa Jones would like a Henry Sanford lookalike contest similar to the one held in Key West. • Central Florida Zoo, 100th anniversary • Brigitte suggested using one of the grant cases to display the history of the Zoo. • Historical Society is going to host a meeting at the Zoo. • Virtual Tour for grant • Ryan and Brigitte are looking into the potential use of matterport, a 3D media platform, for the virtual tour. • Collection committee to help choose objects to highlight on the virtual tour • Time capsule 2024 for 100th Anniversary of old City Hall • Have an exhibit on old City hall and the items found in the old time capsule. Ask the community to bring items that represent 2024 to put in a new time capsule. • Christina Hollerbach asked about attendance. Brigitte stated that there has been an increase in daily attendance, especially during Spring Break with approximately 50 visitors for three consecutive days. • Christina also asked "what do you need from us?" Brigitte replied; help with the Henry Shelton event and ideas of items for the virtual tour. • Barbara Ferrell asked about having the entrance doors refinished. Jerry Sullivan stated that we have requested the refinishing of the doors as part of our Capital Improvement Items for the upcoming budget year, which requires Commission approval. 2 • Barbara Ferrell also asked if the Board could write letters to their Commissioners requesting to refinish the doors. Commissioner Britton stated, yes and that she was in agreement with the request.
