An essential combination for any installation. IntelliKnight heat detectors are an essential component in virtually any IntelliKnight installation. The IntelliKnight panel recognizes each detector by its specific address, so precious seconds are not wasted in determininglocationofanalarm. ' Like other IntelliKnight detector models, the SD505-AHS offers a low profile for pleasing aesthetics. The IntelliKnight family of detectors has been designed to use a common base, Model SD505-6AB, allowing complete application and placement flexibility. Combine all this with the features you've come to expect from Silent Knight detectors —easy installation, stable operation. RF/transient protection, and vandal -resistant locking —and it adds up to a flexible solution for all your fire protection needs. Model SD505-AHS - If the temperature exceeds the trip Addressable Had Detector point (programmed at the panel), an alarm occurs The status LED The SD5.05-AHS is a heat detector suited to virtually any commercial setting. The SD505-AHS is an absolute temperature device. This means that it responds in alarm if the temperature goes above the trip point (programmed at the panel). The SD505-AHS provides accurate temperature measurement data to the fire alarm control panel. This heat detector is particularly suited to environments where smoke detectors cannot be used because of the presence of steam or cooking fumes, such as in a kitchen. -b operation The SD505-AHS unit is made up of an externally mounted thermistor with a specially designed cover that protects the thermistor while allowing maximum air flow. The thermistor reads the temperature from the air it takes in. It then transmits a signal representing the temperature to the IntelliKnight panel. lights continuously during the alarm period. The rate -of - rise feature detects intense fires by quickly responding to rapid temperature increases. The fixed temperature feature reacts to fires when a specific temperature is reached. These high quality heat detectors feature the ultimate in design and decor. The low silhouette and white finish blend with most ceiling designs to make the detector unobtrusive. Materials for the 104 Series heat detector are careful- ly selected for strength, corrosion, resistance and . integrity at points of hermetic sealing. The detectors require normal periodic testing and no field mainte- nance. Rate -of -rise operation may be tested by applying heat from a convenient heat source (e.g. a portable heat dryer). continued a Sentrol 104 Series Rate-of-Rise/Fixed Temperature Heat Detectors Principle of Operation For Rate -of -Rise: Air expands when heated and contracts when cooled. The ESL 104 Series of heat detectors consist of an air chamber, a flexible metal diaphragm and a carefully cal- ibrated, moisture -proof, trouble -free vent. For normal day - today temperature fluctuations, the 'breathing- action of the vent compensates for any expansions or contraction of air in the detector chamber. When a fire occurs, air in the chamber expands faster than it can be vented, causing the diaphragm to distend and close electrical contacts. This feature resets automatically if the fixed temperature element is not activated. For Fixed Temperature: An actuating spring is held under ten- sion by a eutectic metal. When the detector temperature reaches the melting point of the eutectic metal, the spring releases, causing electrical contacts to close. When activated, the external heat collector drops away to provide quick, visyal confirmation that the element has operated and that the detec- tor must be replaced. Ordering Information Application The 104 Series automatic heat detector models are equipped with heavy-duty contacts and are designed to provide depend- able, trouble -free operation for many years. The heat detectors should be considered in all areas to pro- vide automatic early warning of fire. They may be used on standard open circuit (supervised or non -supervised) fire alarm systems or in circuits that require current limiting. Proper selection depends upon the normal temperature ranges to which the detector will be subjected. Use the Ordering Information chart below as a guide. Approvals The ESL 104 heat detector is for use in commercial fire pro- tective signaling systems and in household fire warning sys- tems (NFPA 72). The control module has the capability to synchronize multiple horn signals with a code 3 temporal pattern and the ability to silence the horn while allowing Standard Features Option to Silence the Horn While Strobes Continue to Flash Synchronize Horn and Strobe With the Use of Only Two Wires Easy to Install Module is Rated for 3 Amps Continuous Current and 5 Amps Surge or Inrush Current Synchronizes to 1 Hz Flash Rate s Available Models the strobes to continue to flash. By incorporating the control module as shown in the following drawings, the control module will control the power to the horns to produce the synchronized operation. In unison mode, the horn cannot be silenced while maintaining strobe operation. Can be Used With the Strobe Series that Have the Z Suffix Operates Gentex Horn and Horn/Strobe Series GE, ST/HS, and the HG/SHG When Synchronizing the horns on the GX or GMH/GMS Series use the ZMS4 module AVS44 CONTROL MODULE Approvals Mar UL ..,. ....F M u s.n.
