Installation
All Central Model A Sprinklers
must be installed according to current
NFPA 13 Standards. Deviations from
these requirements and standards or
any alteration to the sprinkler itself
will void any warranty made by
Central Sprinkler Company. In
addition, installation must also meet
local government provisions, codes
and standards as applicable.
The system piping must be
properly sized to insure the minimum
required flow rate at the sprinkler.
Check for the proper model, style,
orifice size, and temperature rating
prior to installation. Install sprinklers
after the piping is in place to avoid
mechanical damage; replace any
damaged units.
Wet pipe systems must be
protected from freezing. Refer to the
Central Bulletins on the Model A-1
Dry Pendent Sprinklers for use in dry
pipe sprinkler installations.
Upon completion of the
installation, the system must be
tested per recognized standards.
In the event of a thread leak,
remove the unit, apply new pipe joint
compound or tape, and reinstall.
Installation Sequence
Step 1. The unit must be installed
in the upright position for upright style
sprinklers, and in the pendent
position for pendent style sprinklers.
Step 2. Use only a non -hardening
pipe joint compound or Teflon" tape.
Apply only to the male threads.
Teflon is a trademark of the DuPont Corp.
Step 3. Hand tighten the sprinkler
into the fitting. For upright sprinklers
use a Central Sprinkler Combination
Wrench, and for pendent sprinklers
use a Central Sprinkler Universal
Wrench, to tighten the unit into the
fitting. A leak -tight joint requires only
7 to 14 ft.-Ibs. of torque; a tangential
force of 14 to 28 lbs. delivered
through a 6" handle will deliver
adequate torque. Torque levels over
21 ft.-Ibs. may distort the orifice seal,
resulting in leakage.
For exposed piping systems, the
sprinkler should be oriented so the
frame arms are parallel with the
branch line pipe.
Caution: Special care must be taken
when installing with a CPVC piping
system. Sprinklers must be installed
after the CPVC manufacturer's
recommended setting time for the
primer and cement to ensure that no
primer or cement accumulates within
the sprinkler. Special care must be
taken when installing with a copper
system. The sprinkler should be
installed only after the inside of the
sprinkler drops and associated fittings
have been wire brushed to remove
any flux. Residual flux can cause
corrosion and can impair proper
sprinkler operation.
Care &
Maintenance
Sprinklers must be handled
carefully. They must not be
transported or stored where ambient
temperature may exceed 100°F/380C.
For best results, store them in a dry,
cool location in the original shipping
package.
Do not install sprinklers that have
been dropped or visibly damaged.
Sprinklers must never be painted,
coated, plated or altered in any other
way from manufactured condition or
they may not function properly. Any
sprinklers altered in such manner must
be replaced.
The owner is responsible for the
proper operating condition of all fire
protection devices and accessories.
The NFPA standard 25 entitled,
Inspection, Testing and Maintenance
of Water -Based Fire Protection
Systems", contains guidelines and
minimum maintenance requirements.
Furthermore, the local Authority
Having Jurisdiction may have
additional regulations and
requirements for maintenance, testing,
and inspection that must be obeyed.
It is advisable to have sprinkler
systems inspected regularly by a
qualified inspection service. Length of
time between such inspections can
vary due to accessibility, ambient
atmosphere, water supply, and site
activity.
Do not attempt to re -assemble or
otherwise reuse a sprinkler that has
operated. Replace any sprinkler
exhibiting corrosion or damage;
always use new sprinklers of the same
type and temperature rating as
replacements.
1993 Central Sprinkler Company
Printed in U.S.A.
Because the discharge pattern is
critical to protection of life and
property, nothing should be hung or
attached to the sprinkler unit that
would disrupt the pattern. Such
obstructions must be removed. In the
event that construction has altered the
original configuration. additional
sprinklers should be installed to
maintain the protection level.
Do not attempt to replace sprinklers
without first removing the fire
protection system from service. Be
certain to secure permission from all
Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and
notify all personnel who may be
affected during system shutdown. A
fire watch during maintenance periods
is a recommended precaution.
To remove the system from service
mode, first refer to the system
operating guide and valve instruction.
Drain water and relieve pressure in the
pipes. Remove the existing unit and
install the replacement, using only the
special sprinkler wrench. Be certain to
match model, style, orifice, and
temperature rating.
A fire protection system that has
been shut off after an activation should
be returned to service immediately.
Inspect the entire system for damage
and replace or repair as necessary.
Sprinklers that did not operate but
were subjected to corrosive elements
of combustion or excessive
temperatures should be inspected,
and replaced if need be. The Authority
Having Jurisdiction will detail minimum
replacement requirements and
regulations.

fusible alloy is sealed into
a bronze center strut by a stainless steel

its rated temperature, the ball is forced
upward into the center strut, releasing the
two ejectors and operating the
sprinkler. Unlike most other sprinkler
designs, the alloy is not exposed
to atmospheric conditions that
could affect its proper functioning. It
is also less susceptible to mechanical
damage since there are no

1!1 Installation
All Central Model A Sprinklers
must be installed according to current
NFPA 13 Standards. Deviations from
these requirements and standards or
any alteration to the sprinkler itself
will void any warranty made by
Central Sprinkler Company. In
addition, installation must also meet
local government provisions, codes
and standards as applicable.
The system piping must be
properly sized to insure the minimum
required flow rate at the sprinkler.
Check for the proper model, style,
orifice size, and temperature rating
prior to installation. Install sprinklers
after the piping is in place to avoid
mechanical damage; replace any
damaged units.
Wet pipe systems must be
protected from freezing. Refer to the
Central Bulletins on the Model A-1
Dry Pendent Sprinklers for use in dry
pipe sprinkler installations.
Upon completion of the
installation, the system must be
tested per recognized standards.
In the event of a thread leak,
remove the unit, apply new pipe joint
compound or tape, and reinstall.
Installation Sequence
Step 1. The unit must be installed
in the upright position for upright style
sprinklers, and in the pendent
position for pendent style sprinklers.
Step 2. Use only a non -hardening
pipe joint compound or Teflon` tape.
Apply only to the male threads.
Teflon is a trademark of the DuPont Corp.
Step 3. Hand tighten the sprinkler
into the fitting. For upright sprinklers
use a Central Sprinkler Combination
Wrench, and for pendent sprinklers
use a Central Sprinkler Universal
Wrench, to tighten the unit into the
fitting. A leak -tight joint requires only
7 to 14 ft.-Ibs. of torque; a tangential
force of 14 to 28 lbs. delivered
through a 6" handle will deliver
adequate torque. Torque levels over
21 ft.-Ibs. may distort the orifice seal,
resulting in leakage.
For exposed piping systems, the
sprinkler should be oriented so the
frame arms are parallel with the
branch line pipe.
Caution: Special care must be taken
when installing with a CPVC piping
system. Sprinklers must be installed
after the CPVC manufacturer's
recommended setting time for the
primer and cement to ensure that no
primer or cement accumulates within
the sprinkler. Special care must be
taken when installing with a copper
system. The sprinkler should be
installed only after the inside of the
sprinkler drops and associated fittings
have been wire brushed to remove
any flux. Residual flux can cause
corrosion and can impair proper
sprinkler operation.
Care &
Maintenance
Sprinklers must be handled
carefully. They must not be
transported or stored where ambient
temperature may exceed 100°F/38`C.
For best results, store them in a dry,
cool location in the original shipping
package.
Do not install sprinklers that have
been dropped or visibly damaged.
Sprinklers must never be painted,
coated, plated or altered in any other._
way from manufactured condition or
they may not function properly. Any
sprinklers altered in such manner must
be replaced.
The owner is responsible for the
proper operating condition of all fire
protection devices and accessories.
The NFPA standard 25 entitled,
Inspection, Testing and Maintenah e_
of Water -Based Fire Protection
Systems", contains guidelines and
minimum maintenance requirements.
Furthermore, the local Authority
Having Jurisdiction may have
additional regulations and
requirements for maintenance, testing,
and inspection that must be obeyed.
It is advisable to have sprinkler
systems inspected regularly by a
qualified inspection service. Length of
time between such inspections can
vary due to accessibility, ambient
atmosphere, water supply, and site
activity.
Do not attempt to re -assemble or
otherwise reuse a sprinkler that has
operated. Replace any sprinkler
exhibiting corrosion or damage;
always use new sprinklers of the same
type and temperature rating as
replacements.
1993 Central Sprinkler Company
Printed in U.S.A.
Because the discharge pattern is
critical to protection of life and
property, nothing should be hung or
attached to the sprinkler unit that
would disrupt the pattern. Such
obstructions must be removed. In the
event that construction has altered the
original configuration, additional
sprinklers should be installed to
maintain the protection level.
Do not attempt to replace sprinklers
without first removing the fire
protection system from service. Be
certain to secure permission from all
Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and
notify all personnel who may be
affected during system shutdown. A
fire watch during maintenance periods
is a recommended precaution.
To remove the system from service
mode, first refer to the system
operating guide and valve --instruction.
Drain water and relieve pressure in the
pipes. Remove the existing unit and
install the replacement, using only the
special sprinkler wrench. Be certain to
match model, style, orifice, and_
temperature rating.-_ ,
A fire protection system that has
been shut off after an activation should
be returned to service immediately.
Inspect the entire system for damage
and replace or repair as necessary....
Sprinklers that did not operate but
were subjected to corrosive elements
of combustion or excessive
temperatures should be inspected,
and replaced if need be. The Authority
Having Jurisdiction will detail minimum
replacement requirements and
regulations.

MEMORANDUM
DATE: August 14, 1995
TO: Tom Schneider
FROM: Joe Cooper
RE: Seminole Towne Center
Temporary Spaces 15
In regard to temporary Mall spaces (War Room, Media Room and Catering
Facilities); the City of Sanford's Building and Fire Departments have made the
following determinations as to the required level of completeness for allowing the
intended usage of the subject spaces:
A. Event Cater's Staging Areas - These spaces (G-1 and L-1) will not require
any interior build -out beyond that required for a vacant tenant space;
provided that:
1. These spaces will only be used for the Gala Event, 4 to 6 hours on the date of
the event (Sept. 21, 1995).
2. Nothing will be stored overnight in these spaces.
3. No one, except the catering company's employees will be in these spaces
during such occupancy, i.e., no public: access!
4. There will be a continuous fire watch (a mall employee) in each of these
spaces during the entire allowed usage period.
5. There shall be two (2) twenty (20) pound ABC fire extinguishers in each
space during the allowed usage period.

Telephone: (407) 324-9594 Facsimile: (407) 324-9574
MS-N
Development Company, Inc.
6. These spaces will be devoid of any access or storage ability after the allowed
usage period has elapsed.
B. War Room (F-11), Media Room (A-8) and Catering Rooms (F-16 and P-8a) -
Since these rooms will have a more extended usage (more than a day, but less
than three weeks), they will require an additional build -out effort due to life /
safety issues. Minimum build -out requirements are to be as follows:
1. Building permit(s) will be required.
2. One (1) hour fire rated partitions between adjacent tenants and any exit
passageways will be required.
3. Fire suppression (sprinkler) systems will be required to be operational in
subject areas.
4. For this temporary usage, one (1) hour fire rated ceilings will not be a
requirement.
5. Interior finishes shall be at our option.
Tom, please note that if the back area of space K-5 is used for CART storage -- the
requirements will be to meet the guidelines discussed in Item B.
