All Minutes Approved
• Introduced and welcomed new board members: Cassandra Albritton, Dino Ferri, and
Lynette Robinson Mitchell.
• Discussion regarding possible rehab of the front of the Museum with help from the CRA,
Sandford Cultural Guild, Ixora Club, and the Parks Division. To include the refurbishing
of the Museum entrance doors and potential new plants along the walkway and the sides
of the building.
• Brigitte also shared information related to the flagpole and that the base of the flagpole is
believed to be part of the City cannon that was fired by Adam Shadrach, Sanford's
official gunner. After the death of Adam Shadrach, the cannon was fired by an unknown
person and the cannon blew up. The D.A.R is raising funds to get a granite marker with
the story of the cannon.
• Brigitte shared with the board members that the Museum has the Collections and
Marketing working Group and invited them to join the groups if they would like to.
Cassandra Albritton inquired about the process of the accepting or declining. Brigitte
explained the process.
• Dino Ferri, explains his background at the Central Florida Zoo you have to have a
collections policy, and it becomes tricky to "deaccession."
• Virtual tour demo
o Need to work on Lighting
o Cassandra Albritton suggests using students to help, expediate the completion of
the virtual tour.
o Still a work in progress.
• Past Perfect - plan to have a link on the website that will allow access to images of
artifacts that are in the Museum.
• Elected Officers for 2024- Ryan Handley President and Sean McCann Vice President.
• Approved the following 2024 Museum Advisory Board meetings:
• January 9, 2024 at 5:30 PM
• April 9, 2024 at 5:30 PM
• July 9, 2024 at 5:30 PM
• October 8, 2024 at 5:30 PM
• Approved Collections and Marketing meetings to occur on the third Tuesdays and
Thursdays of the month at 5:30 PM.
