JOINT Pipe TYTON
JOINT® is U.S. Pipe's trademark for pipe with a push -on type
connection. Simplicity, sturdiness and watertightness of the sys tem
were brought about, not by chance but by design. Taking advan- tage
of a background of more than 90 years experience with pipe and pipe
connecting systems, U.S. Pipe made a thorough study of existing requirementsofpipeusers. The results of this joiningsystemsandstudyshowedtheneedforasimple, economical and reliable method ofassemblingpipe. With the objective of developing such a system, a number
of new designs were de%ised. Several of the most promising were
tested and the assembly which possessed the most outstandingly desirable
characteristics became TYTON JOINT pipe_ After
selection of the system, TYTON JOINT pipe were subjected to further

test pressures above the rated pressures shown, consult the E13AA Engineering
Dept for recommendations. For projects using, large diameter restraints,
please contact this office for our design recommendations. The
1100 Series should not be used on plain end fittings. If
you experience the need to install the 1110 Series in an unconventional manner
please consult our engineering department. The
1100 Series is intended for use on ductile iron pipe. The restraint can be
used on grey iron pipe if the pipe is not severely corroded and is in sound condition
and has an outside diameter that can be accommodated. For more information
on the use of the MEGALUG restraint on grey iron pipe ask for Connections

Sample Specifications
Mechanical joint restraint shall be incorporated into the
design of the follower gland. The restraint mechanism shall
consist of a plurality of individually -actuated gripping
surfaces to maximize restraint capability. Glands shall be
manufactured of ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536-80.
The gland shall be such that it can replace the
standardized mechanical joint gland and can be used with the
standardized mechanical joint bell conforming to
ANSI/AWWA CI 11/A21.11 and ANSI/AWWA C153/A21.53 of
latest version. Twist off nuts, sized same as tee -head bolts,
shall be used to insure proper actuating of restraining
devices.
The restraining glands shall have a pressure rating equal
to that of the pipe on which it is used. The restraining glands
shall have been tested to ASTM F1674-96, be listed by
Underwriters Laboratories, and be approved by Factory
Mutual. The restraint shall be the EBAA Iron Series 2000PV or
approved equal.
Patent Information

more of the following patents: 4627774,4896903,507 1175.
Listings and Approvals
Sizes 4" through 12" are listed by Underwriters
Laboratories, Inc., category HJKF "Fittings, Retainer Type,"
with a deflection angle of five degrees when used on UL-
listed, Class 150 PVC pressure pipe and a UL-listed
appurtenance. The listing number is EX2836.
Sizes 4" through 12" are approved by Factory Mutual
for use on approved DR 18 PVC pipe, and sizes 4" through
10" are approved for use on DR14 PVC pipe and mechanical
joint appurtenances.
The 2000PV restraint _xceeds all requirements of
ASTM F1674-96.
Special Notes
EBAA-Seal- gaskets are provided with the 30" and 36"
2000PV restraints to facilitate easier assembly of the
mechanical joint, and are required on the above referenced
sizes to obtain the pressure ratings and safety factors shown.

The Ames Backflow Preventer: Lighter, Shorter, Beyer
Flowing Than Any Other
Application
TheAmes 3000ss protects the potable
water system by preventing backflow
from fire protection systems. The
device also detects leaks or unauthor-
ized use of water from fire protection
lines.
X Operation
In the incidence of minimal water
flow, the valve clapperremains closed
so that the water flows through the
bypass loop. When major water flow
is required, the water pressure will
open the main valves to allow full
water flow.
N Installation
The 3000ss should be installed with
adequate clearance and easy accessi-
bility for maintenance and testing.
The 3000ss may be installed vertically
or horizontally. Refer to local codes
forspecific installation requirements.
Features
Lowest documented head loss.
Non -Corrosive 300 series stainless steel (lead free) construction.
40% shorter end to end dimensions for compact, inexpensive installation.
Excellent for retrofit installations.
50%lighter in weight,'reduces installation and handling costs.
Fully serviceable inline, no special tools.
Pretested cam -check (patented)' assembly for long term reliability, low head loss,
ease of serviceability.
Single two -bolt grooved style cover for quick and easy access.
Only ASSE 1048 approved assembly for vertical and horizontal applications.
Made in U.S.A.
Head loss equal to less than single detector check valve.
National Approvals
Approved by national approval agencies."
