Simplicity, sturdiness and watertightness of the sys tem were brought about, not by chance but by design. Taking advan- tage of a background of more than 90 years experience with pipe and pipe connecting systems, U.S. Pipe made a thorough study of existing requirementsofpipeusers. The results of this joiningsystemsandstudyshowedtheneedforasimple, economical and reliable method ofassemblingpipe. With the objective of developing such a system, a number of new designs were de%ised. Several of the most promising were tested and the assembly which possessed the most outstandingly desirable characteristics became TYTON JOINT pipe_ After selection of the system, TYTON JOINT pipe were subjected to further rigid tests designed to simulate extreme installation and ser- vice conditions which might be encounteredin the field: (t was only_ after these tests proved completely saLisfactory and were confirmed lay field installations that the decision •gas made to market'1 Y"hON„J NIT pipe in 1955. Convincing proof of ILS wide acceptinci2 is shown b' the' fact that more than 950.6 of the pipe now sold by this company is TYTON JOINT pipe. The TYTON' gasket —a circular ruhber gasket '.Which has a modified bulb bulb shapein cross section —is the only accessor\ Composition and dimensions of the gasket have been carefully engineered to ensure a water - tight and lasting seal Gaskets of special elastomers may be ordered for special applications. The gasket contour and bell socket contour ensure that the gasket will remain seated during proper assembly of the pipe The plain end of the pipe is furnished beveled to ease assembly Because TYTON JOINT pipe assembles so easily. The device also detects leaks or unauthor- ized use of water from fire protection lines. X Operation In the incidence of minimal water flow, the valve clapperremains closed so that the water flows through the bypass loop. When major water flow is required, the water pressure will open the main valves to allow full water flow. N Installation The 3000ss should be installed with adequate clearance and easy accessi- bility for maintenance and testing. The 3000ss may be installed vertically or horizontally. Refer to local codes forspecific installation requirements. Features Lowest documented head loss. Non -Corrosive 300 series stainless steel (lead free) construction. 40% shorter end to end dimensions for compact, inexpensive installation. Excellent for retrofit installations. 50%lighter in weight,'reduces installation and handling costs. Fully serviceable inline, no special tools. Pretested cam -check (patented)' assembly for long term reliability, low head loss, ease of serviceability. Single two -bolt grooved style cover for quick and easy access. Only ASSE 1048 approved assembly for vertical and horizontal applications. Made in U.S.A. Head loss equal to less than single detector check valve.
