ie 2000PV MEGALUG Concept
3AA Iron started manufacturing joint restraint

early prototypes of various configurations of
straints on large diameter PVC pipe indicated that a
straint device must be capable of consistently and

fuse the pipe to burst. Armed with this background
iowledge and an appreciation for the capabilities of

Identify the pipe. The Series 19MJ00 is
designed for restraining C900 PVC and C909
PVCO pipe at ductile iron Mechanical Joint
MJ) fittings with MJ glands (supplied by
others). The restraint is a split, serrated ring
installed behind the MJ gland. The 19MJOO
utilizes longer t-Bolts than the standard
MJ t-Bolt lengths to facilitate the restraint
position.
Set aside the split restraint and longer bolts
and install the MJ gland per AWWA C600. The
bolt torques for 4 inch through 12 is 75-90
ft-Ibs. The use of a torque -indicating wrench
will facilitate the procedure.

3. Using a longer bolt as a gauge, place one
half of the restraint onto the pipe so the bolt
holes of the restraint and the MJ gland align.
Allow enough room on the longer bolts to
fully engage the nuts with several threads
showing.
4. Install the second half of the restraint to
align with the first. Tapping each half into
place may be necessary. Before installing the
side bolts double check the position by using
the longer bolts as gauges. Make';ure the
ID of the restraint is touching the pipe. Side
bolts are to be evenly tightened to 120 ft-Ibs
of torque (70 ft-Ibs on 4 inch and 6 inch). A
torque indicating wrench will help facilitate

nuts: one to tighten against the MJ gland and
one to snug up against the restraint ring with
a few threads showing. One at a time, remove
a shorter bolt that aligns with the restraint
bolt hole and replace with the longer bolt,
remembering to "run" one nut up to engage
against the MJ gland. This nut should be to
the same torque as the original one removed
see step 2 for torque values). Do this for all
remaining bolts holes of the restraint.
6. Once all bolts are in place and the MJ gland
nuts have been retightened to torque, put
the remaining nuts on the bolt behind the
restraint. Hand tighten the nuts behind the

ES-A-InBuildingRiser
Series IBR In -Building Risers are used to connect the main fire supply to
the building overhead fire system. The fitting passes under the foundation
without joints and extends up through the floor. Provided with installa-
tion tabs, the unit has a CIPS (Cast Iron Pipe Size) coupler for easy con-
nection to the underground supply (AWWA C900 PVC and Ductile Iron
Pipe) and industry standard grooved -end connection (AWWA C606) on
the building side for easy connection to the overhead fire sprinkler sys-
tem. The IBR features Lead Free'' construction to comply with Lead Free''
installation requirements.
Ames In -Building Risers are precision engineered and manufactured to
provide exceptional reliability and reduce installation time & labor costs
associated with field assembly. In accordance with NFPA 24, the UUFM
approved In -Building Risers replace numerous fittings, elbows & spools
and reduces the possibility of leaks or failure in comparison to traditional
installation methods and materials. Factory tested integrity ensures the
highest quality installation. The use of stainless steel significantly increas-
es the reliability and life of the riser.
AWWA C606 Outlet *The wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable
water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.

0SY2
Supervisory Switch
The System Sensor 0SY2 is used to monitor the open
position of an Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) type
gate valve.
Features ~ Robust Construction. The OSY2 consists of a rugged housing,
m
NEMA 311-rated enclosure intended for indoor and outdoor use. When installed with the
actuator in the vertical position, the OSY2 is NEMA 311 rated oer UL.
User-friendly mounting bracket fits newer valve yokes
Single side conduit entry does not require right angle fittings
Adjustable length actuator eliminates the need for cutting the shaft
Accommodates up to 12 AWG wire
Three position switch monitors vandal and valve close signals
Two SPDT contacts are enclosed in a durable terminal block for
added strength
Application Flexibility.The OSY2 features a user-friendly
mounting bracket and adjustable shaft to permit mounting to most
OS&Y valves, ranging in size from 1-to 12' Its right angle design
and wide bracket span provides maximum clearance for valve
components, to accommodate troublesome valves. Removing the
OSY2's gate valve bracket allows the unit to monitor side -bracket -
style pressure reducing valves.
100 percent synchronization activates both alarm panel and local Simplified Operation. Installation is made easier with the
bell simultaneously OSY2's single side conduit entrance. By providing a direct conduit
pathway to the electrical source, right angle fittings are not required.
Installation is further simplified by the OSY2's adjustable length
actuator, which eliminates the need for cutting the shaft.
Reliable Performance. The OSY2 is equipped with tamper -
resistant cover screws to prevent unauthorized entry. Inside, two sets
of SPDT (Form Q synchronized switches are enclosed in a durable
terminal block to assure reliable performance.
