With this in mind, it is possible to install this material over wood purlins. The parameters of the product approval calls for 16" o.c. row spacing with a fastener spacing of 12" o.c. in the field zone of the roof and 8" o.c. row spacing with a fastener spacing of 12" o.c. in the perimeter and corner zones. In response to that requirement, Sunlast Metal, Inc would require that the spacing of the existing purlins be adequate enough to accommodate the product approval requirements, or additional wood purlins will have to be installed. In addition, we would also recommend that the minimum panel gauge utilized be no less than 24 gauge to provide some supplementary strength to the system. If the pitch of the roof is less than 3:12, all laps require a minimum of two rows of butyl sealant tape. The open panel ribs at the ridge should be sealed with outside closures. For maximum weather -tightness, a row of butyl tape should be applied above and beneath outside closures. Make sure to take due care to seal any and all trim conditions to ensure appropriate weathertightness as well. Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.
