I understand that it is a frequent practice of unlicensed persons to have the property owner obtain an owner -builder permit that erroneously implies that the property owner is providing his or her own labor and materials. My homeowner's insurance may not provide coverage for those injuries. Either Florida Product Approval needs to be provided for the windows, window mullions and exterior door or a signed & sealed engineer letter is required certifying the installation of the windows to meet current wind speed. Any error or omission in this plan review shall not be construed to grant approval of any violation of any of the adopted codes or municipal ordinances of this jurisdiction. The addition, which had been built more than ten years ago, had been done without obtaining the required permits. A set of plans documenting the "as -built" addition was prepared and employed in obtaining a current City of Sanford Building Permit #16-2353. The owner had removed the interior wall coverings, the ceiling coverings and some of the exterior wall covering materials to permit inspection of the framing and electrical. The concrete thickened edge foundation and slab were personally inspected along with the available documentation during an onsite inspection on Thursday March 9, 2017. It was established at that time that the existing concrete thickened edge foundation and slab for the subject addition is in accordance with the plans and specifications as a part of the City of Sanford Permit # 6-2353 and further in accordance with my personal inspection on March 9, 2017 is in essential compliance with the requirements of the FLORIDA BUILDING CODE 5T" EDITION (2014) and good engineering practice.
