OWNERS MUST PERSONALLY APPEAR AT THE BUILDING DIVISION TO SIGN THIS DOCUMENT BY SIGNING THIS STATEMENT, I ATTEST THAT: (Initial to the left of each statement) Rev. 9.14.2009 I understand that state law requires construction to be done by a licensed contractor and have applied for an owner -builder permit under an exemption from the law. The exemption specifies that 1, as the owner of the property listed, may act as my own contractor with certain restrictions even though I do not have a license. I understand that building permits are not required to be signed by a property owner unless he or she is responsible for the construction and is not hiring a licensed contractor to assume responsibility. I understand that, as an owner -builder, I am the responsible party of record on a permit, I,understand that I P may protect myself from potential financial risk by hiring a licensed contractor and having the permit filed in his her instead Iornameofmyownname. also understand that a contractor is required by law to be licensed in Florida and to list his or her license numbers on all permit and contracts. I understand that I may build or improve a one -family or two-family residence or a farm outbuilding. I may also build or improve a commercial building if the costs do not exceed $75,000. The building or P residence must be for my own use or occupancy. It may not be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. If a building or residence that I have built or substantially improved myself is sold or leased within in 1 year after the construction is complete, the law will presume that I built or substantially improved it for sale or lease, which violates this exemption. cQ I understand that, as the owner -builder, I must provide direct, onsite supervision of the construction. I understand that I may not hire an unlicensed individual person to act as my contractor or to supervise persons working on my building or residence. It is my responsibility to ensure that the persons whom I employ have the licenses required by law and by city ordinance. I understand that it is a frequent practice of unlicensed persons to have the property owner obtain an owner -builder permit that erroneously implies that the property owner is providing his or her own labor and materials. I, as an owner -builder, may be held liable and subjected to serious financial risk for any injuries sustained by an unlicensed person or his or her employees while working on my property. My homeowner's insurance may not provide coverage for those injuries. I am willfully acting as an owner - builder and am aware of the limits of my insurance coverage for injuries to workers on my property. I understand that I may not delegate the responsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not licensed to perform the work being done. Any person working on my building who Is not licensed must work under my direct supervision and must be employed by me, which means that I must comply with laws requiring the withholding of federal income tax and social security contributions under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) and must provide workers' compensation for the employee. I understand that my failure to follow these laws may subject me to serious financial risk. Consult all local building codes, as well as city, county, and state ordinances to ensure that the construction of this shed does not require a building permit. Proper documentation and approvals may also be required by your neighborhood. Be sure to research this information before assembly of your shed. Level Surface Required: Surface must be leveled before starting installation. Recommended surfaces for installation include cement or treated wood deck style surface. If the surface is not properly leveled, the shed will not assemble correctly. This step is very important and time saving in the assembly of the shed. Some tools are required for the assembly of this shed. Please ensure you have the proper tools before beginning assembly. In some cases, a power screwdriver or drill is required. The plastic used in the construction of your shed can be damaged by over tightening of screws. To avoid damage, it is strongly recommended that the power screwdriver or drill be low powered or equipped with an adjustable clutch set on low torque setting. If neither is available, use of a hand screw driver would be best to avoid over tightening of screws. Soapy water can be used to lubricate tight fitting joints in assembly. Prevention of Floor Damage: Sharp objects can puncture and damage your floor. It is recommended to place sharp or heavy objects on a wooden block between the object and the floor. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: 22 FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE WARNINGS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND WILL VOID WARRANTY. To ensure safety, do not attempt to assemble this shed without reading and following the instructions carefully. Check the entire box and all inside packing material for parts and/or additional instruction material. Before beginning assembly you must read the instructions thoroughly and identify all parts using the pasts list in this document. Proper and complete assembly, use and supervision are essential for proper orientation and to reduce risk of accident or injury. Do not use or store hot objects such as grills, blow torches, welding equipment: etc. in the shed. If using ladder during assembly use extreme caution. Two capable adults are required for shed assembly. It is also recommended that a third adult function as an instruction reader. i - Assembly Instru tions Parts List for the 10' x 8'x 8' Shed: Part Name Part Letter Quantity Part Name Part Letter Quantity Right Floor Panel RF 2 Parcel Plugs PP 136 Center Floor Panel CF 2 Left Gable 'Panel LG 2 Left Floor Panel LF 2 Center Gable Panel CG 2 Window Panel WP 2 Right Gable Panel RG 2 Left Window Shutter LWS 2 Short Shelf GSS 2 Right Window Shutter ' RWS 2 Long Shelf GLS 2 Left Window End Cap LWC 2 Roof Panel RP 6 Right Window End Cap RWC 2 Sky ,Light SK 2 Left Window Handle LWH 2 Sky, Light Plug SP 2 Right Window Handle RWH 2 Corner Lock CL 8 Front Panel FL/FR 2 Plastic Screws .
