when installing vinyl siding. Nail or staple approximately in the center of the

NAIL SELECTION
Select only corrosion -resistant nails that are long enough to allow for 3/," pen-
etration into.a solid. nailable surface. Nail heads should be S/w" minimum in
diameter_ Shanks should be Ve" in diameter. Length- I V2" for general use. 2"
for residing. 2'/2" minimum for going through sidinq with backerboard, and
I" to I'/I" trim nails.

HORIZONTAL
STARTER STRI p
Using the dtalk line or cord as a
guide, install starter strip along
the bottom of the building. Al-
low space for corner hosts. J -
channels, etc. Keep ends of
starter strips at least vq* apart
to allow for expansion. Nail in
center of nailing slots. Align will
windows and eaves. If using in-
sulation or backerboard, shim if
necessary to accommodate
thickness.

OUTSIDE -CORNER POST
Place in position allowing Vi' at
the top- Position nail by nailing
at the top of the upper slot.
Balance of nailing should be in
center: of slots 8" to 12" on
center. -This allows for the ex-
pansion and contraction to
occur at the bottom. When sid-
ing is installed.1/,' space should
be maintained in the channel
section of the corner post.
INSIDE CORNER POST
The application of the Inside
corner post is the same as that
for the outside corndr post, and
