I was able to confum to my satisfaction that the existing walls (concrete filled and reinforced with steel bars) have sufficient capacity to resist design wind uplift forces that could be exerted by the steel columns supporting the prolunsed steel shod structure provided the following: The proposed through -bolts to be installed in drilled holes through the walls are located 5 inches below the top of the wall, so as to occur below the horizontal reinforcing steel existing in the walls. Also, the drilled holes shall provide a snug fit to the bolts. The other features of the typical connection detail. shvwn on the scaled drawings are acceptable. r .
