In an action brought under this part, proof of sale or lease, or offering for sale or lease, of any such structure by the owner -builder within 1 year after completion of same creates a presumption that the construction was undertaken for purposes of sale or lease. This subsection does not exempt any person who is employed by or has a contract with such owner and who acts in the capacity of a contractor. The owner may not delegate the owner's responsibility to directly supervise all work to any other person unless that person is registered or certified under this part and the work being performed is within the scope of that person's license. For the purposes of this subsection, the term "owners of property" includes the owner of a mobile home situated on a leased lot. To qualify for exemption under this subsection, an owner must personally appear and sign the building permit application. State law requires construction to be done by licensed contractors. You have applied for a permit under an exemption to that law. The exemption allows you, as the owner of your property, to act as your own contractor with certain restrictions even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct, onsite supervision of the construction yourself. You may build or improve a one -family or two-family residence or a farm outbuilding. You may also build or improve a commercial building, provided your costs do not exceed $75,000. The building or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. It may not be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. If you sell or lease a building you have built or substantially improved yourself within 1 year after the construction is complete, the law will presume that you built or substantially improved it for sale or lease, which is a violation of this exemption. You may not hire an unlicensed person to act as your contractor or to supervise people working on your building. It is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you have licenses required by state law and by county or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not delegate the responsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not licensed to perform the work being done. Any person working on your building who is not licensed must work under your direct supervision and must be employed by you, which means that you must deduct F.I.C.A. and withholding tax and provide workers' compensation for that employee, all as prescribed by law. Your construction must comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, building codes, and zoning regulations. I, Q y / -- do hereby state that I am qualified and capable of performing the reque ed construction involved with the permit application filed. I will assume full responsibility as an Owner/Builder Contractor, and will personally supervise all work allowed by law on the permitted structure. On Table 6C-1 indicate the R -value of the insulation being added to each component and the efficiency levels of the equipment being installed. All R -values and efficiencies installed must meet or exceed the minimum values listed. Components and equipment neither being added nor renovated may be left blank. 2. ADDITIONS ONLY. Determine the percentage of new glass to conditioned floor area in the addition as follows. Total the areas of all glass windows, sliding gla$s'poors and glass door panels. Double the area of all nonvertical roof glass and add it to the previous total. When glass in existing exterior walls, is being removed or enclosed by the addition, an amount equal to the total area of this glass may be subtracted Irom the total glass area. Divide, the adjusted glass area total by the conditioned Iloor area of the addition. Multiply by 100 to gel.the percent. Find the largest glass percentage under which your calculated percentage falls on Table 6C-2. Prescriptives are given by the We of glass (single or double pane) and the overhang (OH) paired with a -solar heat gain -coefficient (SHGC). For a given glass type and overhang, the minimum solar heal gain coefficient allowed is specified. Actual glass windows and doors previously in the exterior walls of the house nd being reinstalled in the addition do not have to comply with the overhang and solar heat gain coefficient requirements on Table 6C-2. All new glass in the addition must.meet the requirement for one of the options in the glass percentage category you indicated. The overhang (OH) distance is measured perpendicularly from the face of the glass to a point directly under the outermost edge of the overhang. 3. RENOVATIONS ONLY. Replacement glass needs to meet the following requirements. Any glass type and solar heal gain coefficient may be used lot glass areas which are under at least a 2 -loos overhang and whose lowest edge does not extend further than 8 feel from the overhang. Glass areas being renovated that do not meet this criteria must be either single -pane tinted, double -pane clear or double -pane tinted. 4. BUILDING SYSTEMS. Iows 1 ROUGH OPENING PREPARATION A. Check for plumb, level, and square. Note: Fix any problems with the opening prior to proceeding. B. Calculate the rough opening and/or window size based on the wood frame. The rough opening should be 3/8" ± 1/8" larger in width and 1/4" to 3/8" larger in height than the window frame. Note: Fir any problems wlth the rough opening before proceeding. C. Remove the packaging from the window. Note: Check product for any cracks or penetration in the frame. DO NOT install damaged units. TWO OR MORE PEOPLE MAYBE REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLO141ING STEPS D.Test fit the window in the opening. Use shims between the window jambs and the sides of the rough opening to temporarily hold the window In the opening. - E. Remove the window from the opening. E Place two 3/8" beads of sealant on the precast sill. Place the first bead 1-1/2" from the exterior edge of the sill. Place the second bead 1/2" from the exterior edge of tfre sill. G. Place a continuous 3/8" head of sealant on the exterior edges of the 1 x 4 treated lumber arid tine edge of the precast sill. SETTING AND FASTENING THE WINDOW TWO OR MORE PEOPLE MAYBE REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING S7LPS. A. From the exterior, place the window into the opening. Hold the window to the top of the opening to minhnire smearing the sealant beads at the sill. Center the window in the opening. B. Plumb and square the window in the opening. While the exterior Flange is being pressed tightly to the opening, starting at the top of each jamb, insert shims between the window Jambs and the I x 4 at thejambs at each pre -drilled installation hnle, making sure the window is plumb and square. If shims are needed at the sill to level the window, shim at the corner of the window, then place additional shins not more than 18" apart on center. Note: There should be no more than 114" clearance between the window jamb and opening at artypoint along the sides of the window¢ and no mare than 1/8" clearance between the sill and the bottom ofthe opening. C. Insert shims at the head of the window between the frame and the opening at each pre -drilled installation hole, while the exterior flange is being pressed tighliv to the opening. Note: There should be no more than 1/4"c1earance between the window Game and opening at any point along the head of the window. i' D.Insiall a 3/16" it 2-3/4" Tapcon'stainless steel masonry screw into each of the r pre -drilled holes in the window frame. Drive the screws until they ate flush with the frame. Over tightening may cause the frame to become distorted. ? 31t6 t(2.3/ 1 ,T SCfWj Note: It trill be necessary to open the tenting sash of the single -hung and sliding window to access one or most of the Installation holes. E. Tool the sealant squeeze out to provide a seat between the flush flange and the block or stucco. F. Single -lung Windows: Insert foam plugs (provided) into each installation screw hole I itatlauop at the jambs and screw covers (provided) into each installation screw hole at the head. 2F - shote Sliding and Fixed Windows: Insert a screw cover (provided) into each installation - t: screw hole at the head and jambs. t - E If??8LA :,aq"N 'led -pannba, se n,1J1 ,olsatuT XIddV 'd WRIT aoRi MIfg 'ltreleas ssa3xa treala pue loos 'adeyS 3 stawoo ayl le pallauuoo are speag ltrefeas lie ams aipA -frig aql le ltreryas apetd Jovalxa ,{yllenb yRpl do peaq itauso3 snonulluol a ,Ciddd '3 'peaq pue sgwef mopulm ayl le pm 1a13eq ay1 JaAo lueieas apeJE Jope xa ,gpenb t1lin peaq snonulyuol a ,flddy Q CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS Remove labels and clean the glass, using a soft, clean, grit -free cloth and mild soap or detergent. Keep weep holes open and clear of obstructions.
