rchitects Specifications -Commercial Fire Alarm System
The contractor shall provide a complete electrically supervised UL Listed commercial
fire alarm system. The system shall be complete with a multi -zone alarm panel with
the capability of programming up to 16 supervised fire zones (EOL and double EOL),
one supervised Class B/Style B two wire smoke detector circuit, and one 4 wire
supervised Class A/Style D waterflow circuit. All zones shall be supervised and be
capable of operating UL Listed heat detectors, smoke detectors, and other listed fire
alarm detection devices. In addition, the panel shall be able to supervise sprinklers.
The panel shall have 2 programmable outputs with choice of 35 output types.
Two wire smoke detector circuit shall have a capacity of up to 30 Sentrol/ESL 429AT
smoke detectors. Circuit shall have a 10052 max. loop resistance and 80mA max.
alarm current @ 8.9 to 12.4VDC operating voltage range.
Four wire waterflow circuit shall have up to 5 detectors with N/0 contacts rated at
100mA max @ 8VDc nominal.
System shall have dual supervised telephone lines with the ability to automatically
switch between lines in the event of failure of one of the lines.
The alarm panel shall be complete with an integral digital communicator capable of
being programmed to transmit to three separate monitoring stations or locations
with 9 account numbers. The communicator shall be capable of supervising two
telephone lines and able to send signals on one or both lines; and shall support and
supervise LINKS -2150 long range RF communications for backup or sole
communications to monitoring stations. The system communicator shall be capa-
ble of communicating in all 10 and 20 BPS single line and extended formats,
Radionics Rounds and Parity, Sescoa Superfast, Ademco Contact ID, SIA 1986,
Sur -Gard 4/3 DTMF, 3/1 and 4/2 formats. Other features of communicator shall
include Hexadecimal Numbers, DTMF and pulse dialing, DPDT line seizure, true dial
tone detect, and anti -jam. Communicator shall transmit separate codes for all UL
required events including water flow alarm, water flow trouble, 2 wire smoke
alarm, 2 wire smoke trouble, telephone line 1 failure, telephone line 2 failure,
ground fault alarm, battery trouble, bell circuit trouble, AC line trouble, periodic
test transmission, periodic test transmission UL, [F] key alarm, and separate
restoral codes for each of the above.

System shall be powered by a 16.5VAC, 40VA transformer and shall contain two
12VDC, 7Ah rechargeable batteries for emergency power. System shall have a self
contained 1.5A regulated power supply providing bell power, 120mA @ 12VDC
programmable switched auxiliary power, and battery charging. System shall be fused
separately for battery, auxiliary power, and bell output. System shall also have one
transistor switch 3A to ground output, programmable for 1 of 35 program options.
System shall have 700mA @ 12VDC, fused @ 5A, supervised bell circuit that will drive
a bell until rest or silenced. Bell shall be Wheelock Horn MT -12 or MT4-12. When
system is used with LINKS 2150 cellular communications system, provide a
separate Fire -Lite FCPS-24F power supply for the bell.
System shall have non-volatile memory to retain all program information if all AC and
battery power is lost, and shall have integral static and lightning protection circuitry.
Fire alarm circuit boards, batteries, and transformer shall be housed in a red UL
approved attack resistant cabinet. If additional burglar alarm modules are added to
this system, they must be housed in a separate cabinet(s).
The system shall support 16 surface mounted keypads capable of fully programming
and operating the system. Each keypad shall be assignable to operate the entire
system or an individual partition. Each keypad shall be complete with 32 character
liquid crystal display (LCD) to provide plain language programming instructions,
operating instructions and display of all alarms and supervisory conditions. Keypads
shall have keypad activated emergency alarms for panic, emergency, fire, and police.
At least one keypad must be red color and located near the primary entrance of the
building. In addition, it must have an autoscrolling display such that all alarms are
automatically and continuously displayed as long as they exist without requiring
human intervention.
The system shall be fully programmable via any of the alarm system LCD keypads.
The system shall maintain a 512 event buffer of all system activity. All events shall
be time and date stamped. System shall allow examination of events via keypad.
System shall be UL Listed in accordance with standard UL864.
