3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Viking Micromatic® and MicromaticHP°
Standard Response Sprinklers are small
thermosensitive spray sprinklers available
in several finishes, temperature ratings,
and orifice sizes to meet design require-
ments. The small frame and 5 mmglass
bulb provide a pleasing appearance. Used
in conjunction with one of the various cor-
rosion -resistant coatings, the units provide
protection against many corrosive environ-
ments. In addition, the Polyester finishes
and Teflon® coating can also be used in
decorative applications where colors are
desired.
During fire conditions, the heat -sensitive
liquid in the glass bulb expands, causing
the bulb to shatter, releasing the pip cap
and sealing spring assembly. Water flow-
ing through the sprinkler orifice strikes the
sprinkler deflector, forming a uniform spray
pattern to extinguish or control the fire.
Viking Standard Response Glass -Bulb Style
Sprinklers may be ordered and/or used as
open sprinklers (glass bulb and pip cap as-
sembly removed) on deluge systems.

I Based on NFPA-13. Other limits may apply, depending on fire loading, sprinkler location, and
other requirements of the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Refer to specific installation standards.
2 The temperature rating is stamped on the deflector.
3The corrosion -resistant coatings have passed the standard corrosion test required by the ap-
proving agencies indicated on pages 11 b -d. These tests cannot and do not represent all
possible corrosive environments. Prior to installation, verify through the end-user that the
coatings are compatible with or suitable for the proposed environment. The coatings indi-
cated are applied to the exposed exterior surfaces only and, therefore, the sprinklers can-
not be used as oen sprinklers. Note that the spring is exposed on sprinklers with Poly fin-
ishes and Teflon coatings.
Sprinklers of Ultra -High temperature rating are intended for use inside ovens, dryers, or sim-
ilar enclosures with normal operating temperatures above 300'F (1 49 °C). Where the ambi-
ent temperature around the Ultra -High temperature rated sprinkler is significantly reduced
below 300 °F (149 °C), response time may be severely retarded.

Fully Listed and FM Approved Sprinkler Pipe
When you specify Schedule-10/Schedule-40 sprinkler pipe you get a UL listed and FM approved product. Although these
products do not require separate approvals, Schedule-10/Schedule-40 gives you the extra quality assurance you demand.
Our Sch-10 (1'/4"- 8") pipe and Sch-40 (V- 2%2") pipe have passed the same thorough lab testing as our other listed pipe
products, and receive periodic mill inspections from both UL and FM agents to ensure consistent quality.
Schedule-10/Schedule-40 product can be
"hot -dip" galvanized to meet FM
requirements for dry systems in
accordance with the zinc coating
specifications of ASTM A-123.
Our advanced formula mill coating of-
fers a clean, durable surface. It is also
paint -ready for custom color applications
without special preparation.
The internal surface of all black Allied
Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe
products up to 4.5000" in diameter is
coated with our new Antibacterial For-
mula, "ABF'. In scientific laboratory
test, ABS proved to have superior resis-
tance to microbial colonization of pipe
walls, thereby delaying or possibly pre-
venting the onset of Microbiologically
Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the
First Sprinkler System is first installed.
Meets "Buy American" requirement
and is available through distributors in
the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Specifications & Approvals
Schedule-10/Schedule-40 pipe are in
compliance with the following:
ASTM A-135, and NFPA 13. Both pipe
products have a working pressure rating
of 300 psi maximum and also meet the
stringent requirement for the following
tests:
• Welded Outlets
• Hydrostatic Pressure
• Side Wall Rupture
• Vibration Test

The original high-strength lightwall sprinkler pipe with hydraulics superior to Schedule -10.
Dyna -Flow pipe is the "original" high-
strength lightwall sprinkler pipe. Dyna -
Flow has outstanding hydraulic
capabilities and is recognized as the
most popular alternative to Schedule -10
pipe. Lightweight, easy to cut and easy
to handle for installation. Dyna -Flow is a
valuable addition to any fire protection
system.
With an inside diameter of up to 11%
larger than Schedule -40 and up to 7%
larger than Schedule -10, Dyna -Flow
pipe hydraulics are exceptional. Larger
I.D.s enable Dyna -Flow, and related
components, to be down -sized within the
system, thus increasing the potential for
job cost savings. For complete Hazen -
Williams charts, refer to "Dyna -Flow
Hydraulic Data Tables."
Coatings & Fabrication Specifications &Approvals
Dyna -Flow products are coated with
an environmentally approved and
specially formulated modified -acrylic or
water-based coating. This durable coating
is paintable. The black coating acts as
an excellent primer and is resistant to
weathering and U.V. degradation from
outdoor storage.
Metallurgical properties provide excellent
fabrication characteristics for end prep
finishes, welding and roll grooving.
There is no special process or equipment
needed for fabrication and installation.
The internal surface of all black Allied
Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe
products up to 4.5000" in diameter is
coated with our new Antibacterial
Formula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory
test, ABS proved to have superior
resistance to microbial colonization of
pipe walls, thereby delaying or possibly
preventing the onset of Microbiologically
Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the
First Sprinkler System is first installed.
tgca/Flow Control
Dyna-Flow/Super Flo pipe is manufac-
tured to meet ASTM A-795 Type E,
Grade A and is in compliance with
NFPA-13 and NFPA-14. All sizes of
Dyna Flow/Super Flo are UL Listed, FM
Approved and ULC Listed.
U FM USC
Listed Approved Listed

Coatings & Fabrication Specifications &Approvals
Dyna -Flow products are coated with
an environmentally approved and
specially formulated modified -acrylic or
water-based coating. This durable coating
is paintable. The black coating acts as
an excellent primer and is resistant to
weathering and U.V. degradation from
outdoor storage.
Metallurgical properties provide excellent
fabrication characteristics for end prep
finishes, welding and roll grooving.
There is no special process or equipment
needed for fabrication and installation.
The internal surface of all black Allied
Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe
products up to 4.5000" in diameter is
coated with our new Antibacterial
Formula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory
test, ABS proved to have superior
resistance to microbial colonization of
pipe walls, thereby delaying or possibly
preventing the onset of Microbiologically
Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the
First Sprinkler System is first installed.
tgca/Flow Control
Dyna-Flow/Super Flo pipe is manufac-
tured to meet ASTM A-795 Type E,
Grade A and is in compliance with
NFPA-13 and NFPA-14. All sizes of
Dyna Flow/Super Flo are UL Listed, FM
Approved and ULC Listed.
U FM USC
Listed Approved Listed
Dyna-Flow/Super Flo is UL/ULC Listed
for use with roll grooved, plain -end
couplings, and welded joints for wet, dry,
preaction and deluge systems. It is FM
Approved for roll grooved, plain -end, and
welded joints for wet systems. Refer to
appropriate documentation for up-to-date
listing and approval information. Dyna-
Flow/Super Flo is now available "hot-
dip" galvanized and has been specifically
approved by FM for dry systems uses.
• Lightweight and easy to install,

Series 78FP UL/FM Fire Check Valve
The Gruvlok 78FP UL/ULC Listed and FM Approved Check Valve is a
compact, cost26in conjunction with grooved pipe and pipe couplings
that are listed or approved for fire protection systems.
Pressure Rating:
2" through 8" 78FP UUFM Check Valves have a maximum working
pressure of 300 PSI (20.7 bar).
Design Feature:
In a full open position the 78FP UL/FM rubber faced swing clapper is
held tightly against the valve body, out of the flow stream, to provide
maximum flow area and prevention of clapper flutter. The clapper
design produces quick, non -slam closure before flow reversal can
occur, which provides a leak free sealing of back pressures as low as
1 PSI (0.07 bar) equivalent to 28" water head, meeting FM require-
ments for an anti -water -hammer check valves.
Applications:
Appropriate for use in fire protection connections such as:
• Fire Department pumper to sprinkler systems
• Public water supplies to automatic sprinkler systems
• Fire pump discharges and by-pass
• Gravity and pressure tanks

Flow Data:
The approximate friction losses, based on the Hazen and
Williams formula, expressed in equivalent length of pipe is
given at left. The friction losses have been calculated on the
basis of flow rates typically used with each size valve.
Important Note:
Check valve life may be shortened and system damage may
occur if check valves are installed too close to a source of
unstable flow.
Check valves must be installed at a reasonable distance away
from pumps, elbows, expanders, reducers or other similar
devices. Sound piping practices dictate a minimum of five (5)
times the pipe diameter for general use. Distances between
three (3) and five (5) diameters are allowable provided the flow
velocity is less than 8 feet per second. Distances less than 3
diameters are not recommended.

United Ball Valves are designed and have been tested for applications from low
pressure cold water to 200 lbs. of steam pressure. They provide a tight seal through
this full range of conditions. They are ideally suited where quick shut off (1 /4 turn)
is necessary. Ball Valves are suitable for service as indicator valves. The "on-off"
status can be determined by handle position. All Ball Valves feature a milled stem
and external nut to connect lever to stem for strength and alignment. Meets Federal

Notes:
1. Minimum dB ratings are calculated from integrated sound pressure measurements made at Underwriters Laboratories as
specified in UL Standard 464. UL temperature range is -30° to 150°F (-34° to 66°C).
2. Typical dB ratings are calculated from measurements made with a conventional sound level meter and are indicative of
output levels in an actual installation.
