Do other new 2x7 carry beam not remove this existing carry beam because you might open See note #3 about this soffit running perpendicular to this up other problems that you don't want to get into. The problem I'm having is that there is a pool slide out on the front wall and it is 7.5' tall. Generally, I like to give about a 5.5' to 6' clearance above pool slides so that people aren't knocking their heads on the beams or knee braces when they climb up. In order to give any clearance whatsoever (let alone 5.5' to 6') for a splice gable, I would have to start the cage height at 12'. However, if I were to design a dome, I can have the start height be at 10' and have enough clearance by the time I get to the panel that's above the diving board. I asked the homeowner what he thought about a dome and he said that he was fine with it. He actually said that you had specifically come out and suggested a splice gable, so I don't know if you had something else in mind.
