For windows-
• Building officials may continue to accapt testing report, evaiu &don r;porta and listing
and labeling from entitics they have traditionally accepted them from until October 1,
2003. After October 1, 2043, such entities must be state approved or licensed.
• All windows and glass doors must bear a label indicating the names of the evaluation
entity and m=u#acturer and the (load) peribrmeace ratinX
• The listing and labels of ANSI accredited certification agencies whose labels contain the
information required by chapter 17 of the Code and Miami -Dade County product control
approval and required labels should be accepted as proof of compliance with to Code.
Building officials may request copies of test reports 9bm manutheturers but esmiot
require original sop aw es and wised seals on the reports.
• Installation insttvcaoa gxcifications which differ from those teased must be signed end
sealed by a Fioaida registered engineer, or archUnct.
Original, signed and sealed installation instrucdonslspecifica dons may be nester filed.
With this approach, copies of the specifications can be subutitted for veri$oatiw of
installation during normal inspections,
BOAF Initiatives to Create a Master l+Sle of products Complying Nrfth the Code:
Florida law allows ewh local jurisdiction to approve products for use in its jruisdietlon and the
Florida Building Commission to approve products for statewide use. The rule establishing
statewide approval procedures has just been adopted and implementation will begin over the
next several months. Therefore, the only option open to window and glass door manufacturers
for the time being is local approval Obviously, the requirements desen'bed above would be
onerous for both local gavernments and industry if every window had to submit
test reports and original signed and seded sets of installation specifications for every product
and product size to every jurMcdon. Orange Cout►tq, in conjunction with the Ccntral Florida
BOAF chapter has developed a database of products which building officials throughout the
state can rely an to approve products for their jurisdictions until mane facturm obtain state
approvals. This system is being combined through reciprocity with sysmms of other large
jurisdictions to establi$h a more extensive database of products available in areas throughout the
state. All jurisdictions aro encoumaged to participate in this systenu.
