They are standard response - standard orifice spray sprinklers intended for use in fire sprinkler systems designed in accordance with the standard installation rules recog- nized by the applicable Listing or Approval agency (e.g., UL Listing is based on NFPA 13 requirements). The Central Model H Recessed Pendent Sprinklers incorporate a center strut mechanism with a special two- piece recessed escutcheon assembly permitting 1/2" of field -adjustment. Unlike most other recessed sprinklers, the upper escutcheon support piece is factory installed on the base of the sprinkler frame, assuring a Listed installation. The ceiling escutcheon plate is easily installed after the sprinkler is in place either by the standard 'push -on" escutcheon or the special "thread -on" escutcheon. This feature allows removal of ceiling panels for easy access to ceiling equipment without taking the system out of service to remove the sprinkler. Operation: A fusible alloy is sealed into a bronze actuating rod (center strut) by a stainless steel ball. When the alloy melts at its rated temperature, the ball is forced upward into the center strut, releasing the two ejectors and operating the sprinkler. WARNING The Model H Recessed Pendent Sprinklers described herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document, as well as with the applicable standards of the National The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and devices in proper operating condition. They are higher in strength and more corrosion resistant than cast iron fittings. The additional strength is provided by the ductile properties making up the fitting. This is accomplished by adding magnesium while the iron is being poured into it final cast shape. This provides an advantage as the fittings are not as susceptible to leaks or cracking and they are also lighter than standard cast iron. Caution: Installers who have not used ductile iron threaded fittings before should be instructed that the fittings are stronger than the pipe and over - tightening the fitting can create leaks and cause damage to pipe threads. In general, there is about one-half turn difference between cast iron and ductile iron fittings. Apply Teflon tape or high quality pipe joint compound on the male pipe threads and tighten two to three turns beyond hand tight. If you are using an automatic make -on machine, please exercise caution in setting your machine to the proper parameters prior to tightening fittings onto the male pipe threads. Dyna -Thread sprinkler pipe represents an engineering advancement for the sprinkler pipe industry. It combines the safety and longevity of traditional Sch-40 pipe with quality and superior hydraulic advantages. 7, Comparison to Schedule 40'"'i • Dyna -Thread's inside diameter is up to 3.6% larger than Sch-40 giving it superior hydraulics. And, when used in combination with Dyna -Flow pipe down sizing often occurs. • Dyna -Thread is fully listed and approved by UL, ULC, and FM for fire sprinkler applications. • The life expectancy of Dyna -Thread and Sch-40 are equal based on the calculated wall thicknesses per UL. • The consistent quality of steel used to make Dyna -Thread facilitates smooth threading and lower maintenance costs. • The exterior of Dyna -Thread is protected by a clean, durable mill coating for extended shelf life and easy paint application. U FM USC Listed Approved Listed • With its increased strength and lighter weight, Dyna -Thread reduces installation fatigue and is ideal for retro -fit applications. • More wall thickness at the thread (CRR=1.00) gives Dyna -Thread better life expectancy than lightwall threadable pipe joints. Corrosion Resistance Ratio (CRR) is a • Unlike lightwall threadable pipe, UL (Underwriters Laboratory) term for Dyna -Thread has no thread gauge the estimated life expectancy of a pipe joint. This is based on the calculated wall thickness at the base of the first exposed thread, assumed to be the weakest point of the pipe length. Dyna - Thread and Sch-40 have the same calculated wall thicknesses at this point and are both assigned the same CRR of 1.00. The internal surface of all black Allied Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe products up to 4.5000" in diameter is coated with our new Antibacterial Formula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory test, ABS proved to have superior resistance to microbial colonization of pipe walls, thereby delaying or possibly preventing the onset of Microbiologically Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the First Sprinkler System is first installed. warning. • Dyna -Thread is approved for standard hanger spacing (15 ft. O.C.), can be used as earthquake sway bracing, and is safe to use as drops. • Dyna -Thread is safer to weld on. • Dyna -Thread is more widely accepted than lightwall threadable where Sch-40 is specified.
