HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-14-2024 SWS MinutesCITY COMMISSION MINUTES OCTOBER 14, 2024 V Wu II U�►J � ISIJ SPECIAL WORK SESSION The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in a Special Work Session on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at the City Commission Chambers, I" Floor, Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida. Present: Mayor Art Woodruff Vice Mayor Patty Mahany Commissioner Sheena Britton Commissioner Kerry S. Wiggins, Sr. City Manager Norton N. Bonaparte, Jr. Assistant City Attorney Lonnie N. Groot City Clerk Traci Houchin Deputy City Clerk Cathy LoTempio Absent: Commissioner Patrick Austin City Attorney William L. Colbert Mayor Woodruff called the meeting to order at 4:11 PM. 1. Briefing RE: Filing litigation relating to the 1,4 Dioxane, by David Simmons of DSK Law LLP. Mr. Simmons said DSK Law is prepared and ready to move forward with the litigation process, filing seven counts and the eighth count for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Mr. Groot said FDEP has 30 days to review the litigation. Mr. Groot said the seven counts of litigation do not need to go to the FDEP for review and can be filed now. Commissioner Britton asked if the Commission could have access to the questions. Mr. Groot said he preferred that the Commission should wait until the review process is complete. Mr. Groot will provide the Commission with a list once the process is complete. CITY COMMISSION MINUTES OCTOBER 149 2024 SPECIAL WORK SESSION Mr. Simmons said the contamination defendants are General Dynamics Corporation, a Delaware corporation, Siemens Corporation, a Delaware corporation, and Moni Holdings, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. 2. Briefing Item Sharon Kraynik, Director of Human Resources and Risk Management, handed out the instructions for the City Manager review. At 4:23 PM the Commission took a brief recess, due to a snake in the Chambers. The Commission resumed the meeting at 4:25 PM. Ms. Kraynik asked for the review to be returned to Human Resources by October 23, 2024. The Directors are going to be providing their input. Ms. Kraynik will provide the Commission with a summary of the Director's comments.
