HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-17-2025 SWS Minutes¥} APPROVED CITY COMMISSION MINUTES MARCH 17, 2025 SPECIAL WORK SESSION The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in a Work Session on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM, in the Railroad Depot Room, gud Floor, Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida. Present: Absent: Mayor Art Woodruff Vice Mayor Patrick Austin Commissioner Sheena Britton Commissioner Kerry S. Wiggins, Sr. Commissioner Claudia Thomas City Manager Norton N. Bonaparte, Jr. Assistant City Attorney Lonnie N. Groot Deputy City Clerk Cathy LoTempio City Attorney William L. Colbert City Clerk Traci Houchin Mayor Woodruff called the meeting to order at 4:10 PM. 1. Interviews of City Attorney Applicants (estimated times): 4:00 — 4:30 PM Dan Langley, Fishback Dominick, LLP 4:40 — 5:10 PM Gemma Torcivia, TG Law 5:20 — 5:50 PM Cliff Shepard, Shepard, Smith, Hand & Brackins Dinner Break: 6:30 — 7:00 PM Wade Vose, Vose Law Firm 7:10 — 7:40 PM Lyndsay Greene, DSK Law 7:45 — 8:30 PM Discussion and Selection Discussion and Selection. After a brief discussion the Commission voted. CITY COMMISSION MINUTES MARCH 17, 2025 SPECIAL WORK SESSION The first vote, the Commission voted on their top three applicants. The results were as follows: TG Law, Vose Law Firm, and DSK Law. The second vote was for the top selection of the three law firms. The results were as follows: TG Law, one vote; Vose Law Firm, two votes; and DSK Law two votes. The third vote was for the number one selection between the Vose Law Firm and DSK Law. The results were: Vose Law Firm, two votes and DSK Law three votes. Commissioner Wiggins moved to approve the Law Firm of DSK Law as the new City Attorney for the City of Sanford. Seconded by Commissioner Britton and carried by vote of the Commission as follows: Mayor Woodruff Aye Vice Mayor Austin Aye Commissioner Britton Aye Commissioner Wiggins Aye Commissioner Thomas Aye Mr. Groot said this transition will begin on May 1, 2025. Lindsay Greene, of DSK Law, will begin attending the first Commission Meeting on May 12, 2025. Mr. Groot suggested presenting Mr. Colbert with the City Attorney America’s Resolution, Mayor Woodruff had a brief discussion with the Commissioner’s regarding board appointments. The consensus was to appoint the applicants at the next meeting and to change the Sanford Museum Board CITY COMMISSION MINUTES MARCH 17, 2025 SPECIAL WORK SESSION There being no further business, the meeting was adjourneg gt 8:20 PM.
