• Pathways to History — verbiage for the signs is complete. The project is currently with
Julie Scofield, Historic Preservation Planner for graphic design. Brigitte expects to have
the draft design back within a week. Upon completion, Brigitte stated that she will
forward the draft design to the Board members for their review. Gene Kruckemyer,
asked "you are going to send those out to everyone?" Brigitte, stated "that is my hope,
to send them to you guys, so that you can look it over and let me know if you have any
comments or concerns."
• RED & Peace and Justice Institute will host a "Table Talk" on Tuesday, January 21,
2025, at Hopper Academy for the citizens of Georgetown. The purpose of the event is
to hear the comments and concerns of the citizens of the community. The Museum will
have a table at the event and will be promoting the upcoming "History Harvest" event
to be held at Hopper Academy.
• Brigitte also shared with the board that the Museum participated in the "Goldsboro Art
Show", providing coloring activities for children attending the event.
• Brigitte spoke about the 150th Anniversary of Sanford and asked the board to try and
come up with ideas for activities for the event.
• Jerry advised the board that he and Brigitte would meet with Robin Theisen, about
getting plants to go around the Museum and a separate building that would also have
plants in it. This project is in the planning stages and will not be complete for a while as
Robin will have to try to raise the funds.
• Jerry also explained that Lake Corolla rehab project has already begun.
• Tour of Homes Update — Huge success. The Museum had 1300 visitors during this
event. Brigitte, hopes that the Trust will continue to use the Museum as the central
location of the event. Participants of the event that would normally not be able to visit
the Museum were able to enjoy the facility with the later operating hours. Brigitte,
mentioned that this does bring up the question of "should the Museum host an open
house with later hours, for a Night at the Museum.?" The challenge would be staffing.
• Barber Shop Oral Histories - need more information related to Beauty Shops.
• Mellonville Exhibit will open 02/07/2025.
• Battle of Camp Monroe reenactment to be held at the Museum. Planning a reproduction of
an 1833 boat for viewing purposes and an encampment on the Museum grounds. 9 am — 4
pm Friday and Saturday. Nancy Sepulveda reiterated the events on the same day.
Saturday, February 8Ih — event in Georgetown/Goldsboro and at the Museum. Museum
staff and volunteers will be in attendance at these events. Sean McCann has offered
help on behalf of the Historical Society. Brigitte would like the Historical Society to host
a table during one of these events.
• Volunteers — searching for volunteers that are proficient with Microsoft programs,
scanning, digitizing, etc.
• Historical Society has money that they need to spend and are willing to purchase
equipment and donate it to the Museum. Brigitte has mentioned the need for a
microfilm machine.
• Brigitte would like to create an exhibit for the 80`h Anniversary of World War II and focus on
the history of WW II in our Community.
