AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA, SAID ORDINANCE AMENDING
CHAPTER 18 OF THE CITY CODE BY ADDING ARTICLE
IV TO PROVIDE FOR REGULATING MOTOR VEHICLES,
TEMPORARY SIGNS, AND PEDDLERS IN PUBLIC RIGHT
OF WAY AREAS OF THE CITY, PROVIDING PENALTIES
AND ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURES; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILiTY, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA:
SEC~O~__I: That the Sanford City Code is hereby
amended by adding Article IV to Chapter 18, which Article shall
read as follows:
ARTICLE IV: MOTOR VEHICLES, SIGNS AND PEDDLERS IN PUBLIC
RIGHT OF WAY AREAS OF THE CITY.
18-67: It shall be unlawful for any person to park any
automobile, trailer, truck or any other motor vehicle on any
street, alley, sidewalk, or parkway for the purposes of repair.
Any motor vehicle left over 24 hours on any street, alley,
sidewalk or parkway, in inoperable condition, shall be removed.
18-68: It shall be unlawful for any person to drive any
automobile, trailer, truck or any other motor vehicle over the
street curbs.
18-69: It shall be unlawful for any person to park any
automobile, trailer, truck or any other motor vehicle so as to
obstruct any parkway or sidewalk, provided however that parking
shall be permitted within the right of way if the motor vehicle
is properly parked on the street pavement or next to the curb,
parked on a paved driveway, or parked on a paved parking area
designated for that purpose and does not obstruct said parkway or
sidewalk.
18-70: It shall be unlawful for any person to place any
signs or placards within the public right of way without a
permit, including real estate, yard sales, directional signs to
yard sales, garage sales, or similar sales, advertising signs of
filling stations or service stations, trailer type signs and all
other temporary signs.
18-71: It shall be unlawful for any person to peddle or
display their materials, except upon their licensed vehicle, and
to spread their materials upon the ground, platforms, tables, or
other structures; all peddlers shall be required to move to a new
location at least 1,000 feet away every two hours and no location
is to be used more than once in a 24 hour period.
18-72: The violation of or failure to comply with any
provision of this section shall subject the offender upon
conviction to a fine or imprisonment or both as provided by
,Section 1-8 of the Sanford Code.
18-73: Each day of violation shall constitute a separate
offense as provided by Section 1-10 of the Sanford Code.
18-74: The Chief of Police or any officer of the City shall
have the power and duty to enforce the provisions of this
section.
SECTION 2: It is the intention of the governing body
and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this ordinance
shall become and be made a part of the Sanford City Code, and the
sections of this ordinance may be tenumbered to accomplish this
intenltion.
SECTION 3: If any section or portion of a section of
this ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitution-
al, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
