AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD~
FLORIDA, DETERMINING THE AMOUNT AND
FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION AND MAK-
ING THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD~ FLORIDA FOR THE YEAR 1956.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the amount determined necessary to be raised
by taxation in the City of Sanford, Florida, for the year 1956 for the ordinary
purposes of the Municipality and the Department of Debt Service is the sum
o~ $278,500.00.
SECTION 2: That the millage for the year 1956 to be assessed
upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all the taxable property, ex-
cept homesteads to the assessed value of $5,000.00 or less, within the
corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, is hereby fixed at 13. 5000
milts, to be allocated as follows Department of General Government,
7. 5000 mills; Department of Debt Service, 6. 0003 mills.
SECTION 3: That the millage for the year 1956 to be assessed
upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all homesteads to the assessed
value of $5,000.00 or less within the corporate limits of the City of San£ord,
Florida is hereby fixed at 6.0000 mills to be allocated as follows: Depart-
ment of Debt Service, 6.0000 mills.
SECTION 4: That there shall be and is hereby levied for the year
1956 upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all taxable property, ex-
cept homesteads to be assessed to the assessed value of $5,00~. 00 or less,
within the corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, a tax od 7. 5000
mills for the purpose of realizing a sum sufficient to meet and defray the
ganford, Florida, for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1956 and ending
September 30, 1957.
SECTION 5: That there shall be and is hereby levied for the year
1956 upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of ali taxable property
within the corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, a tax of 5. 4724
mills for the purpose of realizing a sum sufficient to pay interest coupons
maturing March 1, 1957 and September 1~ 1957 on refunding bonds Series
A, o~ the City of Sanford, Florida, dated March 1, 1937, and maturing
September 1, 1977, and to create a sinking fund ~'or the purpose of acquiring
ol bonds of said Series A; a tax of. 4289 malls for the purpose of realizing
a sum sufficient to pay interest coupons maturing March 1, 1957 and Sep-
tember 1, 1957 on refunding bends Series C, D and E of the City o~ Sanford,
Florida dated March 1, 1941, and maturing September 1, 1977, and to create
a sinking fund for the purpose of acquiring of bonds of said Series C, D and
E; a tax of . 0987 mills for the purpose of realizing a sum sufficient to pay
outstanding notes, contracts and interest thereon maturing during current
fiscal year.
SECTION 6: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7: That this ordinance shall become effective on October
1, 1956.
