AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIOA, PROHIBITING THE LEAVI~;G OF ABANDONED, UNATTENDED OR DISCARDED ICE BOXES AND REFRIG~ATORS IN PLAC- ES ACCESSIBLE TO CHILDREN; AND PROVID- ING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATIUN OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, the existence within the City of Sanford, Florida, of abandoned, unattended or discarded ice boxes, re- frigerators and other containers ~th doors or lids which can- not be opened from the inside constitutes a serious danger to children who enter them at play; and WHEREAS, these abandone~, unattended or discarded ice boxes, refrizjerators and other containers are a constant menace to the health, welfare and safety of children in the Ci- ty of Sanford, Florida; N~, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE uF THE CITY OF SANFOR~, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. PROHIBITING ABANDOnmENT I~ PLACES ACCES- SIBLE TO CHILDREN. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to leave or permit to remain outside of any dwel- ling, building or other structure, or within any unoccupied or abandoned building, dwelling or other structure under his or its control, in a place accessible to children, any abandoned, unattended or discarded ice box, refrigerator or other contain- er which has a door or lid equipped with snaplock or other lock- ing device which may not be released from the inside, without first removing said door or lid, snaplock or other locking de- vice from said ice box, refrigerator or container. SECTION 2. PEnALTIeS. Any n~ ~'.,-~ .......... be fined in an amount not exceeding $200.00 dollars, or be imprisoned in the City jail for a period not exceeding 90 ninety days, or be both so fined and imprisoned. Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue, shall consti- tute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such here- under. SECTION 3. ORDI~ANCES REPEALED. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ord- inance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.
