AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 23-8, OF CHAPTER
23, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
1954, AS AMENDED, SAID AMENDMENT EXEMPTING
GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND CHURCH PROPERTIES
FROM SUCH TAX.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 23-8 of Chapter 23, The Code of the
City of Sanford, Florida, 1954, as amended, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 23-8. Tax based on percentage of charges
tO user.
"There is hereby levied and imposed by the
city on each and every purchase in the city of
electricity, metered or bottled gas (natural,
liquified petroleum gas or manufactured gas),
water and telephone service, a tax on the
payments received by the sellers of such
utility service from the purchaser for the
purchase of such utility service as follows:
Ten percent (10%) on the first $25.00.
Five percent (5%) on the next $50.00.
One percent (1%) on ail over $75.00.
Such tax shall apply against the normal billing
periods of the seller of such utility service.
Provided, however, such tax shall not be imposed
against federal, state, county and municipal
governments and their respective agencies, and
church properties used for worship or education."
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective immediately
. upon its passage and adoption.
