AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 23-8, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA, 1954, AS AMENDED, SAID SECTION
ESTABLISHING A TAX ON CHARGES TO UTILITY USERS,
SAID AMENDMENT PROVIDING FOR A TEN PERCENT TAX
THEREON; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 23-8, The Code of the City of Sanford,
Florida, 1954, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Sec. 23-8. Tax based on percentage of charges to user.
There is hereby levied and imposed by the city on each
and every purchase in the city of electricity, metered or
bottled gas (natural, liquified petroleum gas or manufac-
tured gas), water and telephone service, a tax of ten per-
cent of the payments received by the sellers of such utility
service from the purchaser for the purchase of such utility
service."
SECTION 2. The incidence of said tax shall be applied to the first
ensuing meter reading or service period, as the case may be, after the
effective date of this ordinance as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 3. Ali ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective October 1, 1971.

by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, on

door of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, on
the 28th day of September, 1971.
