AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 23-8 OF CHAPTER
23, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
1954, AS AMENDED, SAID SECTION ESTABLISHING
A TAX ON EACH AND EVERY PURCHASE IN THE CITY
OF ELECTRICITY, METERED OR BOTTLED GAS,
WATER AND TELEPHONE SERVICE, SAID AMEND-
MENT INCREASING SAID TAX.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 23-8 of Chapter 23, The Code of the
City of Sanford, Florida, 1954, as amended, establishing within the
City of Sanford a tax on utilities be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"Sec. 23-8. Tax based on percentage of charges to user.
"There is hereby levied and imposed by the
city on each and every purchase in the city of
electricity, metered or bottled gas (natural,
liquified petroleum gas or manufactured gas),
water and telephone serlrice, a tax on the
payments received by the sellers of such
utility service from the purchaser for the
purchase of such utility service as follows:
Ten percent (10o/00) on the first $25.00.
Five percent (5~0) on the next $50. 00.
One percent (1%) on all over $75.00.
Such tax shall apply against the normal billing
periods of the seller of such utility service."
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective October
i, 1965.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of September, A.D.
1965.

by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, on

door of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, on
the 14th day of September, 1965.
