AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA, DEFINING CAMPING AND RECREA-
TIONAL VEHICLES AND REGULATING THE
PARKING AND STORAGE OF THE SAME WITHIN
THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SANFORD; PRO-
VIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.
WHEREAS, in order to protect and preserve the public health,
safety and welfare of the City of Sanford, Florida, and its inhabitants,
it is deemed advisable to regulate the parking and storage of camping
and recreational vehicles as herein defined within the limits of the City
of Sanford, Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF
THE CITY OF SANFORD FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. For the purpose of this ordinance a camping
and recreational vehicle shall mean and include any boat mounted on a
trailer, any camp trailer, travel trailer, or other unit built or mounted
on a vehicle or chassis, without permanent foundation, which is used for
temporary dwelling or sleeping purposes and which, under the provisions
of applicable Florida Statutes, may be legally driven or towed by a
passenger vehicle on a highway, provided, however, the same shall not
exceed thirty-two (32) feet in length.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to park any
camping vehicle for any period exceeding two hours on any street in
the City of Sanford, Florida, except for the purposes of repair. If any
person desires to reapir a camping vehicle while it is parked on any
street he shall obtain a permit therefor from the Police Department.
Such permit shall not be issued unless the camping vehicle cannot be
removed to a garage, service station, or other premises for the purpose
of repair, and shall be granted on request without fee. It shall be valid
for a period of forty-eight (48) hours from the issuance thereof, but may
for good cause shown be renewed for a further forty-eight (48) hour period
or periods as necessity may require. Any such camping vehicle under-
going repairs while parked in a street shall not, during such period of
repair, be used by any person as a dwelling or sleeping place.
SECTION 3. Any owner of a camping vehicle may park or
store such equipment on private residential property in the City of
Sanford subject to the following conditions:
(a) If the camping vehicle is parked or stored outside
of a garage or building, it shall be parked or stored to the
rear of the rear building line of the lot.
(b) At no time shall such parked or stored camping vehicles
be occupied or used for living, sleeping, or housekeeping pur-
poses.
(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), a
camping vehicle may be parked anywhere on private residential
property for loading or unloading purposes.
SECTION 4. Any person who shall violate this ordinance or
any of its provisions shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine
not exceeding $100.00 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding ninety
(90) days, or both. Every violation of any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall be construed as a separate offense for each day during
which such violation continues, and shall be punishable as herein defined.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
