HomeMy WebLinkAbout732 ORDINANCE NO. 7:t2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 291, AS AMENDED, SAID ORDINANCE CHANGING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS ON PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Before the construction of sidewalks or driveways on public rights-of-way, an application for a permit shall be filed with the Building Official. Applications for sidewalks or drive- ways for other than single family residential uses shall be accompanied by complete plans and specifications indicating compliance with the quirernents of this ordinance. Upon approval of the application, the Building Official shall issue a permit therefor. SECTION 2. SIDEWALK REQUIREMENTS (a) Width for residential uses shall be a minimum of five feet ($'). (b) Width for non-residential uses shall be as approved by the City Engineer. (c) Material shall be a minimum of 2, 000 PSI concrete or other ma- te rial as approved by the City Engineer. (d) Thickness of concrete shall be a minimum of four (4) inches, except that where sidewalks cross residential driveways the minimum thickness shall be five ($) inches and where sidewalks (e) (0 (a) (c) (d) (e) (0 (g) cross non-residential driveways the minimum thickness shall be six (6) inches. Thickness of material other than concrete shall be as approved by the City Engineer. Construction joints (V tooling) shall be placed at not more than five (5) foot intervals. Expansion joints of one-half (1/2) inch thickness shall be placed at not more than thirty (30) foot intervals. SECTION 3. DRIVEWAY REQUIREMENTS Width of driveways shall be not less than nine (9) feet nor more th an fifty (50) feet. Sides of all driveways shall be suitably curbed and shall intersect the street curbs with a five (5) foot radius. All driveways shall have an apron extending a minimum of five (5) feet from the gutter line and shall be not less than 2, 500 PSI concrete. Material for driveways, other than aprons, shall be not less than 2,500 PSI concrete or other material as approved by the City Engineer. Thickness of concrete for residential drives shall be not less than five (5) inches, and for non-residential drives, not less than six (6) inches. Thickness of material other than concrete shall be as approved by the City Engineer. Expansion joints of one-half (1/2) inch thickness shall be placed at not more than thirty (30) foot intervals and at the junctions with sidewalks and street curbs or gutters. Safety islands shall be provided between all adjoining driveways and shall be not less than ten (10) feet wide. -2- (h) Distance of driveway from corner of property at street inter- sections shall be not less than ten (10) feet and at alley inter- sections shall be not less than five (5) feet. (i) Location of all driveways shall be approved by the Building Official. (j) Any unusual conditions, materials, or locations shall be approved by the City Engineer. SECTION 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
