AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA AMENDING SECTION 23-8, THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
1954, AS AMENDED, SAID SECTION PROVIDING
FOR THE IMPOSITION OF A TAX BY THE CITY
OF SANFORD ON UTILITY SERVICES, SAID
AMENDMENT EXEMPTING GOVERNMENTAL
AGENCIES FROM SUCH TAX.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 23-8, The Code of the City of
Sanford, Florida, 1954, as amended, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 23-8. Tax based on percentage of charges to user;
maximum tax.
There is hereby levied and imposed by the City
on each and every purchase in the city of electricity,
metered or bottled gas (natural, liquifled petroleum
gas or manufactured gas), water and telephone service,
a tax of ten per cent of the payments received by the
sellers of such utility service from the purchaser
for the purchase of such utility service; provided,
however, that such tax shall not exceed the sum of
two dollars per month; and further provided that such
tax shall not be imposed against federal, state, county
and municipal governments and their respective agencies."
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective imme-
diately upon its passage and adoption.
