AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 5, THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
1954, AS AMENDED, SECTION 5-21 THEREOF,
VICIOUS OR FEROCIOUS DOGS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 5-21 entitled "Vicious or
Ferocious Dogs" as contained in Chapter 5, The Code of the City of
Sanford, Florida, 1954, as amended, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 5-21. Vicious or ferocious dogs.
"It shall be unlawful for any vicious or ferocious
dog to roam at large within the corporate limits of the
city.
"A vicious or ferocious dog within the meaning
of this article shall be one that is of a ferocious or
vicious nature or one that snaps at people or has
bitten people or attempted to bite people, or attacks
other dogs or domestic animals.
"Any ferocious or vicious dog as defined in this
section shall be confined by a chain or wire or in a kennel
or other enclosure on the premises of the owner or keeper
thereof and shall not be allowed to beloose on the owner's
or keeper's premises.
"A vicious or ferocious dog shall not be allowed to
roam the streets, avenues, alleys or public places of the
city at any time without being secured on a leash and under
the control of some person or persons in charge of such
dog and the dog shall be muzzled by a muzzle sufficiently
strong to prevent such dog from biting or attempting to
bite people, dogs, or domestic animals."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
