AN (RDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLO',IDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
AS Ce]NERAL SUPERVISOR OF THE WATER
DEP/RTMENT TO PROVIDE THE MEANS AND
TO PIOCEED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF
FLU{RIDE TO THE MUNICIPAL WATER
SUPPLY AS DIRECTED BY AND UNDER THE
DIRECTION OF THE FLORIDA STATE BOARD
OF H~ALTH.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined from a
review of available evidence that the introduction of artificial fluori-
dation to the municipal water supply under adequate supervisory control
will result in a significant reduction in tooth decay of the children in the
municipality, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has received the approval
in writing for fluoridation from an overwhelming majority of the practioners
in the City of Sanford representing medicine and dentiStry, and as the result
thereof the City Commission feels justified in applying to the Florida State
Board of Health for its approval thereof, and has directed such application
to be effected, and as a part thereof is required by the Florida State Board
of Health to pass an appropriate ordinance,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF
THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLOBIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager in his capacity of super-
vising the water department of the City of Sanford, Florida, be, and he is
hereby directed through said water department and the utilities department
to provide the means and to proceed as expeditiously as possible with the
with the introduction of fluoride to the water supply of the City of
Sanford, Florida under the direction and supervision of the Florida
State Board of Health.
SECTION 2. That in connection with the above the City
Manager is hereby directed to take ail necessary steps including but
not limited to filing of necessary applications, test reports, and pro-
curing of engineering data and technicians.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.

copy of the foregoing Ordinance No. 827? PASSED and ADOPTED
by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, on

of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, on the
25th day of February, 1965.
