SPECIAL WORK SESSION
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Work
Session on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 4 P.M., in the Railroad Depot Room, 2nd Floor,
City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

Vice Mayor Patty Mahany
Commissioner Mark M
Commissioner Velma Williams
Commissioner Randy Jones
Assistant City Attorney Lonnie Groot
Deputy City Clerk Cynthia Porter
Records Manager Pat Lee
Absent: Interim City Manager Tom George
City Clerk Janet Dougherty
1) Meeting call to order by Mayor Triplett.
Mayor Triplett called the Special Work Session to order at 4:24 P.M.
2) City Manager selection
Mayor Triplett thanked everyone for coming and meeting with the
candidates over the last few days, and thanked Vice Mayor Mahany for her assistance
with the reception held in their honor last evening.
Chuck Rohre, Waters Consulting Group, reviewed comments he received
when contacting references relative to candidates Nelson Bonaparte, David Jones, Gary
Shimun, and Andrew VanGaale.
Commissioner Jones moved to allow the Mayor, along with the City
Attorney to begin negotiations with David Jones for the City Manager position.

Seconded by Commissioner M and carried unanimously by vote of the
Commission as follows:

In regards to the amount of salary to be offered, Mr. Rohre clarified that
the position was advertised as "negotiable to the mid $100,000 ".
