Sayer Chief of Police R G Williams Absent: Commissioner Edward Higgins Meeting called to a der by the Chairi ;an. 397 Minutes of adjourned regular meeting of December 30, 1940 next read and approved Request next received from Rev. John J Kelleghan, Pastor of the Catholic Church, that the City remove two oak trees from the parkway in front of the church property on Oak Avenue, and upon recommendation of Supt. Moughton, same was authorized. On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried, the Commission next approved the acceptance from the Florida State Bank of Sanford, of Florida National Bank of Jacksonville Safe-Keeping Receipt No. 6486 covering $16,000.00 U.S.Trasury 3/4% National lief ense Notes dated Dec. 18, 1940, Payable Dec. 15,1945, in oxchange for Florida National Bank of Jacksonville Safe- Keeping Receipt No. 6445 covering $162000.00 U.S. 2J% Treasury Bonds dated Mar 15, 1938, payable Sept 15, 194$, theses securities being deposited to protect City of Sanford funds deposited in said bank. Reports of fourth and final fall analysis of milk being furnished by dairies operating in the City of Sanford, as prepared by J.L.Ruble's Laboratories of Orlando, next presented, such reports showing all such milk well within the requirements of Grade "A" Milk. Consideration next given to the matter of continuing to burn the decorative colored street lights that were lighted during the Christmas holidays. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the colored street lights be burned on Sat. n through the remainder of the month of January, and then discontinued. Seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried. Request next received from D.C.Brock for an adjustment of the assessed valuation in amount of $3,145.00 for the years 1934 thru 1937, against Lots 1 and 2 Block 6 Tier A , claiming this valuation is too high in proportion to the assessments on other property in this location. Thereupon after careful comparison of the assessed valuation of this property with similar properties similarly located, Commissioner Lodge moved that the assessed valuation be adjusted to $2,600.00 for the years 1934 thru 1937. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried. On motion of Commissioner Lodge, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried the Commission next authorized the purchase to two uniforms for the caretaker of the Municipal Zoo at a, cost of $10.00 each. is 3 11P ) MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, Jan 7 at 7:30 P M 19 41 Request next received from Lyman A Phillips to be allowed to pay the balance due, on the adjusted basis, of delinquent taxes for the years 1927 thru 1939 against Lot 5 Block 4 Tier 7, in monthly instalments of $20.00 each, the entire balance to be paid by Dec. 31,1941, having paid $50.00 on account of said taxes. Request approved, provided the 1940 taxes on this property are paid by Apr 1, 1941. Application next received from Chase & Company to purchase the following property from the City at a price of $275.00: Lots 1 thru 7 of Block 9; Lots 1 and 3 of Block 10; Lots 1 and 3 of Block 11; and Lot 1 of Block 12, San Lanta Second Section, these lots having been acquired by the City through foreclosure of tax and special assessment liens. Thereupon the Commission rejected the aforesaid offer of $275.00 from Chase & Company end instructed the Clerk to advise them that the City will accept a price of $635.16 , which represents the amount of the City's tax claims against these lots, under the adjusted basis ,plus the cost of foreclosure. Request next received from Mr and Mrs. A C Fort that they be granted a courtesy membership to the Sanford Country Club for the ensuing year in view of Mr Fort having been connected with the Club for a number of years in an official capacity, and same was referred to the Advisory Board of the 6a.nford Country Club. Request next received from Fireman Chester T.Estes for an advance of $100.00 on his salary, to be repaid to the City at the rate of $10.00 per month, stating that the money is needed to pay the cost of medical treatments for his wife. Action deferred. CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, Jan 7 _ at 7: 30 P M - -19 41 There being no further business to be transacted by the out -going Board, Commissioner Gut then moved that the meeting adjourn Sine Die. Seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried. The Commission then reconvened for the purpose of organization, Mr Hill signing the oath of Office and being seated as Commissioner of the City of Sanford Florida, for the term of three years. Thereupon, Commissioner Lodge moved that Commissioner Gut be made temporary Chairman, pending the election of a Mayor, seconded oy Commissioner Hill and carried. On motion duly carried, the election of a Mayor was then deferred until 7:30 o'clock P.M. January 9, 1941. At this time Mr Coleman expressed his thanks and appreciation to the members of the Commission and the employees in the various departments of the City for their splendid cooperation during his term of office as Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Sanford, There being no further business the meeting then adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.M.
