The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M January 13, 1941-
Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Acting Mayor.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Minutes of Regular Annual meeting of January 7, 1941, next read and approved.
Current invoices and payrolls for the month of December 1944, properly audited and
vouchered as evidenced by vouchers nos. 2599 thru 3010, submitted, examined, approved and
payment authorized.
Monthly reports of the streets, sanitation, health, water, police, fire, library, golf
and recreation departments for the month of December 1940, submitted and examined.
Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during the month of
December 1940, submitted and examined.
Bank statements in all accounts for the month of December 1940, properly reconciled,
submitted and examined.
On motion duly carried, the Commission next approved the acceptance from the Florida
State Bank of Sanford, of Florida National Bank of Jacksonville, Safe 'peeping Receipt
No. 6496 covering $1000.00 U.S. 2% Trasury Bond No. 11222B dated October 7, 1940, due June 15,
1955, in exchange for Florida National Bank of Jacksonville Safe Keeping Receipt No. 6456 cover-
ing $1,000.00 Seminole County, Florida, , 51 � R &B Refunding Series A bond No. 158, these
securities being deposited to protect City of Sanford deposits in said bank.
Application next received from Mrs Elizabeth Jewett for widow's exemption on Lot 52
Sanford Heights, for the year 1940, such exemption having been allowed in previous years on
Lot 3 Block C, Markham Park Heights, whereas, the title to this property reverted to the
State of Florida in 1939 under the "Murphy Act"
Application approved.
In connection with request of P.R.Stephenson presented at the last meeting that a
street light be installed at the intersection of Fifteenth Street and gyrtle Avenue,
Chief of Police Williams next reported that he had located a whitewsy light at the northeast corn
of First Street and Holly Avenue that could be discontinued, in order to install an overhead
bracket street light at the aforesaid intersection.
Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the Clerk be instructed to authorize the Florida.
;Power & Light Company to discontinue the lighting of the whiteway lamp located at the north-
east corner of First Street and Holly Avenue, and install an overhead bracket street light at
the intersection of Fifteenth Street and Myrtle Avenue.
Seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried.
Request next received from Seminole County for approximately 300 yg�rds of clay from
Ithe City's clay pit, to be used for repairing the road that leads to the Indian Mound Village.
Request granted.
On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried, the Commission
Inext authorized the renewal of purchase option at a cost of 450.00 for an additional 90 days
`beginning January 17, 1941, from Mrs. Eva Taylor on the following described property that is
,being acquired as part of the site for the proposed aviation field:

The Aest 112 of the S.W. 1/4 of section 5 Township 20 S. Range 31 E.
Communication next read from the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund of the
State of Florida advising that the State will accept a price of $100.00 for the sale of
all of the lots in the subdivisions of Grove Park and Sanford Grave, located between
kellonville Avenue end Sipes Avenue, and Geneva Street and 'Thirtieth Street.
Thereupon after careful consideration , and in view of the fact that the
aforesaid property is needed by the City in connection with the site for the pro-
posed aviation field, Commissioner Gut moved that the Clerk be authorized to make appli-
cation to the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund of the state of Florida, for the
purchase of the Subdivisions of Grove Park and Sanford Grove, at a cost of $100.00
Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried.
On motion duly carried the Clerk was next authorized to transfer an additional
amount of $20.00 to the Petty Cash fund that is carried on hand in the Clerk's office
for change purposes.
Inspector Duncan next reported that a building located on the S. 43 ft of Lot 9
and the N. 7 ft. of Lot 10 Block 11 Tier 9, Martins Addition is in a dilapidated
condition and a fire hazard, and recommended that same be condemned.
Thereupon the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution condemning
this building, for passage at the next meeting.
The following applications for adjustment of taxes and / or special assessments
were next received, and on motion duly carried, same were approved.
