082640X24 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, August 26, 1940 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in regular session at the City hall in the City of Sanford Florida at 7:30 o'clock P,M August 26, 1940. Wilson City Clerk H N Sayer Chief of Police, R G Williams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Mr. H H Coleman, local manager of the Florida Power & Light Companynext appeared and registered a further protest against the assessed valuation for the year 1940 in amount of $165,000.00 placed on the personal property of the Florida Power & Light Company, claiming that this assessment is too high. Action deferred. In connection with interest due Septemberl, 1940 on Series A and B Refunding bonds dated earth 1, 1937, and on advice from the Clerk that sufficient funds are on hand for the purpose, Commissioner Higgins moved that the Clerk be authorized to transmit to the Central Hanover Bank & Trust Company, New York City, funds in amount suf icient to pay interest coupons due September 1, 1940 on the outstanding Series A and B Refunding bonds. Secdnded by Comm3r-ioner Rollins and carried. On motion of Commissioner Rollins, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase from Baynard 35ros. Realty & Ins. Co. Inc., St. Petersburg, of three Refunding Series A bonds with coupons due Sept 1, 1940, and subse- quent coupons attached, at a price of $261.25 per bond and interest. Fequest next received fron H J Lehman , manager of Sanford State Farmers' Wholesale Market, for the use of three or four of the City's dump trucks for a few days for the purpose of hauling dirt to level and beautify the market grounds. Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to advise Mr. Lehman that the City has no trucks available for this purpose. Communication next read from Mr. A.D.Rosier offering to lease to the City for a period of 99 years a sewer right -of -way six feet in width by 252.6 ft. in length across his property located at 915 West First Street , and install a 611 sewer line from said right -of -way vast 49 feet to his property line for the purpose of serving the four houses located on east side of Poplar Avenue between First Street and Second Streets, for the consideration of a tax credit in amount of $296.74. Matter taken under advisement. City Attorney Wilson next advised the Commission that W E Kirchhoff Jr. , owner of the old frame warehouse building located at the northwest corner of Commercial Street and Holly Avenue, had requested permission to repair same, instructions having been issued at the meeting of August 12, 1940, that a a resolution be prepared condemning this build- ing as being dilapidated and unsafe. 1 II 1 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, AUEust 26, 7:30 P M 19 40 Request granted, provided such repairs will place this building in a safe condition so as to conform with the requirements of the building code. Commissioner Higgins next introduced Resolution No. 580 and moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried by the following vote of the Commission: Commissioner Coleman Aye " Gut Aye " Higgins Aye " Lodge Aye " Rollins Aye Said Resolution No-580 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION N0. 580 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITE' CO` _ ISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD FLORIDA, AGREEING FOR THE CITY OF SANFORD TO CO- SPONSOR WITH SEMINOLE COUNTY,FLORIDA, THE ERECTION OF A HOSPITAL IN THE CITY OF SANFORD;FLORIDA, AS A WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION PROJECT, TO THE EXTENT OF A TRACT OF LAND IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, CONVEYED BY SAID CITY TO SEMINOLE COUNTY,FLORIDA, UPON WHICH SAID HOSPITAL IS TO BE ERECTED AND LI IITING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SAID CITY AS CO- SPONSOR TO SAID TRACT OF LAND. WHEREAS, Seminole County, Florida, has applied to the Federal Government for the erection of a hospital in the City of Sanford, Florida, as a Works Progress Adminis- tration project and in order to assist in the erection of said hospital the City of Sanford did, by deed dated June 12, 1940, and of record in the Public Records of Seminole County Florida, in Deed Book 95, Page 419, convey to Seminole County, Florida, the following described lot, piece, or parcel of land situate in Seminole County, Florida, to -wit: ?EGINNING, at the northwest corner of the intersection of 1.1ellonville Avenue and Second Street or Union Avenue, in the City of Sanford, Florida, and run North along the West line of Mellonville Avenue, to the South line of First Street in said City of Sanford, Florida; thence along the South line of said First Street to West line of Block 11 of the Subdivision known as "R,tellonville" according to plat thereof of record in the Public Records of Seminole County, Florida, in Plat Book 1, Page 120; thence South to the North lJ-ne of Said 2nd. Street or Union Avenue; thence East along the North line of said 2nd. Street or Union Avenue to the point of BEGINNING, upon which tract of land said hospital is to be erected and, WHEREAS, The City of Sanford has been requested to co- sponsor said project for the erection of said hospital and the City Commissioners deem it advisable, expedient and for the best interest of the said City of Sanford for said City to agree to co- sponsor said project with said Seminole County to the extent of said contribution of said tract of land without assuming any further liability as said co- sponsor. NOW , 1HEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Fl orida : That the City of Sanford, Florida, does hereby agree to co- sponsor with Seminole County, Florida the erection of a hospital in the City of Sanford, Florida, upon the above described tract of land as a Works Progress Administration project to the extent of its contribution of the aforesaid tract of land, but said City does not assume any liability as said co- sponsor other than the contribution of said tract of land.
