The City Commission of)-the City of Sanford, Florida met in Regular session.
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 7:30 o'clock P.M. April 24, 1939,
but due to lack of a quorum immediately adjourned until 7 :30 o'clock P.M. April 26,
1939.

The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular adjourned
session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 7:30 o'clock P.M. April 26,
1939.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Minutes of regular meetings of April 10, and 24th. 1939 read and approved.
Application neat received from R. J. Palmer, Local agent for the Sinclair
Refining Company for permit to erect a service station on Lots 7 and 9 Block 9 Tier 8
located on East side of French Ave. between Seventh and Eighth Streets, building to be
of frame structure with composition roof, and open grease and wash racks, estimated cost
being $1,500.00
Thereupon the question arose as to the paving for the driveways.
After considerable discussion, and on motion duly carried, the Commission
granted the aforesaid permit, with the proviso that the driveways be constructed to
conform with the regulations of the City.
Request next received from Florida bower & Light Company for permission to trim
several trees throughout the City thatare interfering with the light wires.
Thereupon Supt. Moughton was authorized and instructed to make a survey of the
trees that need trimming and grant the Florida Power & Light Company permission to do
this work under his supervision, after first obtaining the consent of the property owners.
A committee composed of several merchants from Sanford Avenue and West Thirteent
Street next appeared with reference to the closing of grocery stores on Sundays, some
urging the enforcement of closing, and others protesting against it.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, the Commission advised them that
the enforcement of the present ordinance regulating Belling goods on. Sunday would force
all business places to close, and that a new ordinance would be drafted regulating the
sale of certain goods, wares and merchandise on Sunday, and that due notice would be
published in order to give them an opportunity to be at the meeting when this ordinance
would be presented for consideration.
