CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, July 3 at 7:30 P .M —19-39
The City Commission of the City of aanford, Florida., met in adjourned
session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P M
July 3, 1939 to receive the tax assessment roll for the year 1939 as prepared by
the City Tax Assessor, and to sit as a Tax Equalization Board.
Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
The Commission then proceeded to sit as a Tax Equalization.Board to receive
any complaints or objections filed with the City Clerk a.s to assessed valuations
on the 1939 tax roll as prepared by the City Tax Assessor and presented at this time.
Thereupon the following complaints were presented and taken under consid-

There being no further complaints or objections registered, the Commission
thenadjourned as an Equalization Board until a later date, and thereupon proceeded to handle
any other business which may come before it.
Mr. E.M.Armitage then appeared with ref emence to erecting a Tourist Cabin
Camp on Block 1, Spurling Heights, located at the southwest corner of Park Ave. and Geneva
Ave., informing the Commission of his long experience in operating tourist camps in the north
and outlining the architectural design and structure of the cabins and the operation of this

proposed camp, also, stating that there a.re City taxes end street paving liens against the
aforesaid property in the amount of 47,260.66 which would amount to $441.29 if paid
under the adjusted basis, and requested some financial assistance from the City toward
the settlement of these liens.
Thereupon , after careful consideration and in view of the fact that the
establishment of such a camp would be'of great benefit to the City, Commissioner Coleman
moved that $300.00 be appropriated to help relieve the tax liens against Block 1, Spurling
Heights, to be used for this purpose.
Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried.
Bids next received for furnishing 40 tons of castor pomace fertilizer for the
Municipal Golf Course, in accordance with terms and specifications of the City Commission,
as follows:
