MINUTES Adjourned Meeting
CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September, 7, 193.9, 5:3Q 19 P. M.
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Adjourned
Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, at 5:30 o'clock P. M. September 7, 1939.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the
meeting was to confer with Doctors L. J. Hanc hett and Frank Chappell, representatives of the
Florida State Board of Health with respect to establishing a Health Unit in Sanford.
Dr. Chappell then explained in detail the operations, maintenance, personnel
and the services rendered from a Health Unit, also, outlined the procedure in establishing
such a unit in Sanford, advising that it would have to be County project, operated under the
supervision of the County Commission and Florida State Board of Health, stating that all funds
appropriated towards the maintenance of the unit would have to be deposited with the State
Treasurer for disbursement, and that the Federal Government would then allocate a like amount
for this purpose and deposit with said funds.
Thereupon, after considerable discussion and in view of the fact that this
Health Unit will have to be sponsored and established by the County, which was not represented
at this meeting, action deferred pending a joint meeting with the County Commissioners and
County School Board.
