CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA,October 25 at 8: oo P M 19____ -39 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Danford, Florida at S:oo o'clock P.M. October 25th. 1939• Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor. " Falter S. Coleman " H. James Gut " M. J. Lodge " G.E.Rollins City Attorney Fred R. 1ilson City Clerk H N Sayer. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried, the Commission next rescinded the action taken at the meeting of October 11th., awarding bid to Plight Brothers Company for furnishing 200 feet of 12 inch fire hose at 4- 11''per foot and to Eureka Fire Hose Division for furnishing 300 feet of 2 112 inch fire hose at $1.20 per foot, and instructed the Clerk to obtain new bids on same to be received at the next regular meeting. Mr. L.A. Johnson next pe0st appeared with further reference to his application for a permit to erect an automobile service station on the northeast 1/4 of block 3N, Tier 9, located at the southwest corner of Seminole Boulevard and French Avenue, submitted plans and specifications and presented picture of a service station similar to the one proposed to be constructed. Thereupon after careful consideration and on motion duly carried, the Commission granted kr. Johnson the aforesaid permit with the understanding that the building will be of the type as shown on the picture presented and the driveways and paving to con- form with the City's requirements. Price Net FOB cars, Sanford, Florida. $450.00 On motion duly adopted the Clerk was next authorized to indicate as a matter of record by writing "Title in State of Florida" opposite each parcel of land on the City tax rolls, where the State & County Tax Certificates against such properties were subject n 1 1 1 I- I MINUTES CITY- COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, October 5:00 P - M .19--59 to the provisions of the Murphy Act and were not redeemed or purchased. 1 Mr. H.H.Coleman, local manager of the Florida Power & Light Company next appeared with further reference to the request for an adjustment of the personal property taxes cf the Florida Power & Light Company for the years 1937, 1938 and 1939, and offered to pay the taxes for the years 1937 and 1935 on an assessed valuation of $200,000.00 , and to pay under protest the 1939 taxes on an assessed valuation of 165, 000.00. Thereupon after careful consideration and in view of the expense that would be involved in having an accurate appraisal made of the aforesaid property, Commissioner Gut moved that the offer of Mr. Coleman be accepted, and that the Clerk be authorized to adjust the assessed valuation of the personal property of the Florida Power & Light Company fo the years 1937 and 1935 from $230,000.00 to 200,000.00.end for the year 1939 from $230,000.00 to $165,000.00 Seconded by Commissioner Coleman and carried. Mr. J.E.Cousins Jr. representative of Layne & Bowler, Inc. next appeared before the Board and demonstrated a Layne Turbine Pump, and outlined their method of constructing water supply systems by installing gravel well wells, also requested permission to make a survey of the underground water supply in Sanford with respect to locating new wells closer to the water pumping station for the municipal water supply. Request granted. At this time Commissioner Rollins requested permission to be excused from the meeting , and same was granted. Commissioner Coleman next introduced Ordinance No. 288 entitled: AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND ABANDONING THAT CERTAIN ALLEY IN BLOCK 3N Tier 9 OF E.R.TRAFFORD's MAP OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. and same was placed on its first reading and read in full by the Clerk. Thereupon Commissioner Coleman moved that the rules be waived and said Ordinance No. 255 be placed on its final passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Gut. Thereupon the question recurred upon the waivure of the rules. R. TRAFFORD' S MAP OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. On motion duly adopted, Ordinance No. 255 was next ordered POSTED at the front door of the City Hall in the City of�anford, Florida, in accordance with the terms of the Charter , as amended.
