The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called
Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. November
10, 1939•
Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor

Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announeed that the purpose of the

meeting was to consider the bids received at the meeting of October 25, 1939, for furnishing
water pipe and appurtenances with which to replace the water supply main from the wells to
the pumping station.
Thereupon Engineer W.W. Gillespie submitted a detailed report of the tabulations
of the six bids received, said report showing the three lowest bids evaluated to a com-
parable basis, including all materials necessary for complete installation, as follows:

Thereupon careful consideration was given to the matter, and upon recommendation
of Engineer Gillespie-that the proven life history of Cast Iron installation justifies the
extra expenditure of its installation , and in view of the fact that Central Foundry Company
proposes to furnish bolted joint cast iron pipe in six foot lengths that can be unloaded,
transported and laid with hand labor without requiring any calking or experienced workmen.
for connecting, Commissioner Gut moved that the bid be awarded to the Central Foundry
Company for furnishing the 12" Class 150 bolted cast iron pipe installation at the unit
prices stated in their bid proposal , subject to satisfactory arrangements for the financing.
Seconded by Commissioner Coleman and carried.
Thereupon the aforesaid bids received at the meeting of October 25th., and the
report of Engineer Gillespie was next ordered filed with the records in the Clerk's office.
On motion duly adopted the Clerk was instructed to submit an application to the
Works Projeets Administration for a. project for the installation of the aforesaid pipe and the
removal of the old water supply line.
