102636104 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, October. 26, at 7:30 P M 19 36 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Sessiom at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. October 26, 1936. Present: Commissioner S.O.Shinholser, Mayor. W.R.Dupree M.J.Lodge P.N.Whitehurst City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk Fred R.Wilson City Clerk F.S. Lamson Chief of Police R. G Williams Absent: Commissioner W.A.Leffler Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Commission of October 12, 1936, read and approved, also the minutes of Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board. Request next received from representatives of the A. & P. Tea Stores for reduction in the 1933, 1934 and 1935 personal taxes against this company, but in view of the fact that no evidence was presented showing that these taxes were incorrect, request refused. The Clerk next presented bids received for furnishing one four —door sedan for use by the Police Department, and same were ordered held pending a meeting of the full Board. Request next received for permit to operate junk yard on the northeast corner of Sixtt Street and Holly Avenue and in view of the fact that this location is within the district designated as " Industrial" permit granted. The Clerk next reported for matter of record that M.J.Lodge and Maxwell Stewart had qualified in Group No. 1 and Edward Higgins and W.B. Zaohry had qualified in Group No. 2, for the Municipal Primary Election to be held on November 3rd. 1936, the candidates in Group No 1 to be voted upon to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of the term of office of Commissioner M J Lodge and the candidates in Group No 2, to be voted upon to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of the term of office of Commissioner S. 0 . Shinholser On motion of Commissioner Whitehurst, seoonded by Commissioner Dupree and the Mayor was next authorized to issue election proclamation oalling.a Municipal General Election to be held on December Sth. 1936, for the purpose of electing two City Commissioners for terms of three years each to fill the vacancies which will be caused by the expiration of the terms of office of Commissioners M J. Lodge and S.O.Shinholser, the following being designated to serve as Clerk and Inspectors of said Election:: For Clerk For Inspectors: W.K.MoBinnnm. R.C. Whitten N. 0. Package Liquor Store. On motion duly carried, the Clerk was next instructed to obtain bids for subscriptions on 38 magazines and periodicals for the Municipal Library during the year 1937• On motion duly carried, the Commission next approved the following adjustments or suspensions of Municipal Court sentences: Bass No 22o4u Sherman Brown, sentenced to 15 days straight. Served 5 days and allowed to pay $5.00 and released. Case No 22233, Charley Crawford, sentenced $10.00 or 30 days. Paid $5.00. Suspend balance. On motion duly carried the Clerk was next authorized to pay $50.00 per month Welfare to the Seminole County /Board until further notice. On motion duly carried, $50.00 was next allocated to the cost of meals and beds for indigent transients as authorized by the Salvation Army. Instructions next issued to the Clerk to purchase from Lyle Signs Inc., 10 N Running Boy" School caution signs, at a cost of #1.75 each, to be installed in the streets approaching the Mast and west Side Primary Schools. A Committee composed of the Mayor, City Attorney and City Clerk was next designated to investigate the matter of foreclosing tax liens on property between First St. and Seminole Boulevard from Sanford Avenue Nast to San Juan Avenue, on which the taxes have become over two years delinquent, it being the intention to dedicate this property for park purposes along with other lots in this section heretofore dedicated for the same purpose. The meeting then adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.M. November 2nd, 19361 after which the Commission immediately re- oonvened as a Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board. Thereupon the following adjustments in taxes for the year 1933 and prior and street paving special assessments, were authorized and approved: D.0.Brook Lots 6,7,g, 9 Block 9 Tier F, Adjustment authorized: Adjustment Authorized: G.S.Selman $. 32 ft of Lot 4 and all Lot 5 Block 11 Tier 2, Adjustment Authorized: Taxes 1� Penalties Adjusted to $257.00 Cash.
