The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned
session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'Clock-P.M. May 11th.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Thereupon the following bids for improvements to the municipal `,Water Plant
were opened and filed for tabulation by the xngineer.

Item 2. No bid.
Consideration next given to the matter of installation of a flood
lighting system at the Municipal Athletic Field for use for night base ball playing,
bids having been requested for presentation at this meeting.
Thereupon the following bids were presented:
RANDALL ELECTRIC CO. One Crouse -Hinds Standard Baseball Lighting System consisting
of one hundred'C� ouveHinds Type MUA Flood Lights, mounted on
eight seventy foot poles and equipped with 1500 watt General
Electric lamps, the price submitted not including cost of
labor and equipment for setting the poles, this item being
donated by the employees of the Florida. Power & Light Co.
$3,973.63 installed
complete.
Terms: 7%o of purchase price by December 31, 1937 and balance
by December 31, 1935,. deferred payments to bear interest at
the rate of 6 per cent per annum.
GIANT MANUFACTURING CO. One Giant Manufacturing Co. Lighting System consisting
of 54 Apollo Projectors, Catalog No. 2525, 105 1500 1att

Terms: 70 of purchase price by December 31, 1937 and balance

After comparison of the bids submitted, Commissioner Lee moved that the City
purchase one Flood Lighting System to be installed at the municipal Athletic Field
from the Giant Manufacturing Co., as per bid submitted, subject to date of delivery
and proper warranty.
Seconded by Commissioner Dupree and carried.
Commissioner Dupree then introduced Resolution No. 507 and moved its
passage and adoption.

RESOLUTION NO. 507.
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATIO1 OF A FLOOD
LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR THE MUNICIPAL ATHLETIC FIELD OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford, Florida, is the owner of a municipal
athletic field located at the northeast corner of Mellonville Avenue and Celery
Avenue in the City of Sanford, Florida., which is used for athletic events of
various kinds in said City for the recreation and entertainment of the public
generally; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Commissioners of the City of Sanford,
Florida, provision for the lighting of said athletic field for use at night for
athletic events would promote the increased use of said field and patronage thereof
by the public generally,,and said City Commissioners are of the opinion that it
would be expedient and for the best interests of said City to provide for the

lighting thereof at night so that said field may be employed for athletic events

at night, and that the purchase and installation of a flood lighting system therefor
is advisable and expedient, and said City Commissioners have considered competitive
offers for the installation of such a system, and found that the flood lighting
system offered to be sold and installed by Giant Manufacturing Co, Council Bluffs, Is.
will be the most satisfactory.
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO:lv111ISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFJRD,
FLORIDA, that the City of Sanford, Florida, enter into a conditional sale contract
with Giant Manufacturing Co,. Council Bluffs, Ia. for the purchase and installation of
a flood lighting system for said municipal athletic field at a cost of not exceeding
14,000.00 , three— fourths of which to be paid on or before December 31, 1937, and the
remaining one— fourth.bf said purchase price to be paid on or before December 31, 1935,
deferred payments to bear interest at the rate of Six percent per annum, and that the
Mayor and City Clerk of said City of Sanford Florida, be and they are hereby authorized
to execute said contract on behalf of said City, subject to date of delivery and,
proper warranty.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.

As the City Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida.
The Chairman then appointed Commissioner Lee, Lodge and Dupree, City Attorney
Wilson and City Clerk Lamson as a Coiimittee to prepare proper contract with the Giant
'�Lanufacturing Co. covering the purchase of the aforesaid flood lighting system.
Consideration next given to the agreement to be entered into with the Sanford
Baseball Association whereby a certain portion of the revenues from all baseball games

played in the municipal Athletic Field are to be remitted to the City to apply on the
purchase price of the flood lighting system, final action being deferred until the
next regular meeting of the Commission.
The meeting then adjourned.
