The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City sit as Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7 :30 o'clock P. M., July 5th, 1937,' to /a Tax Equalizatic Board, at which time the City Tax Assessor presented the tax assessment roll for the year 193 7, but due to the lack of a quorum, immediately adjourned until 7:3G o'clock P. The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'clock P. M., July 6th, 1937. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor "I W. R. Dupree if A. W. Lee " M. J. Lodge City Attorney Fred R. Wilson City Clerk F. S. Lamson Absent: Commissioner W• A. Leffler Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The Commission then proceeded to sit in adjourned session as a Tax Equalization Board to receive any complaints or objections filed with the City Clerk as to assessed valuations, listing or otherwise, on the 1937 tax roll. Name. Thereupon the following complaints were presented and taken under consideration: Description. Assessment. Geo.A.DeCottes Personal property assessed to self $500.00 and wife at 1920 Park Avenue. Geo.A•DeCottes Personal property assessed to self $1000.00 at office at lst St. and Magnolia Avenue. H. McLaulin Personal property 112 Park Avenue. $2500.00 Complaint. Requests reduction to $350.00 Claims should be r duced to $500.00 Claims should be r duc ed to $1500.00 There being no further complaints or objections registered, the Commission then Adjourned as an Equalization Board until a later date, and thereupon proceeded to handle any other b usines� which may come before it. Consideration then ;given to the advisability of a quantity water rate for homes, lodges and churches as an inducement to the use of more water for beautification purposes. with Thereupon, after considerable discussion, Commissioner Lee moved that effective/ water bill4 rendered after July 15th, 1937, and to extend to and including the water bills rendered as of per month November 15th, 1937, all water used /by homes, lodges and churches in excess of $2,50 as cal- culated at the present rates, shall be charged at a flat price of $.15 per thousand gallon. Seconded by Commissioner Dupree and carried. Consideration next given to the unsanitary condition prevailing in some of the negro "quarters" due to the refusal of the ownersto furnish water for these quarters and the inability of the tenants to make satisfactory arrangements on account of all the houses being served by meter.
