The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special called session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'cloc'__ P. Dl-, September 5th, 1937.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman, who announced that the purpose of the meeting
was to give consideration to the budget for the fiscal year 1937 -1 "38, as well as any other
business which may come before the meeting.
Thereupon careful study was given to the tentative budget of revenues and expenditures
for the fiscal year 1937 -1935 as prepared by the City Clerk, final action being deferred pending
further consideration.
Form letter from Dun & Bradstreet, Inc., advising that Claim of Steandard Accident
Insurance Co- for $325.14, covering an excess premium charged on Workmen's Compensation Policy
which expired December 15, 1936, had been placed in their hands for collection, next read and
ordered acknowledged with the advice that the City does not consider itself liable for this
excess charge.
The Clerk was next instructed to notify the agents of the owners of the building located
at 109 -111 West lst St., that unless the repairs ordered by Resolution No. 503, adopted by the
City Commission under date of .arch 22nd, 1937, are made within 1 days, the City will proceed
to do this work, selling the salvaged material and c_- arging the balance of the expense against

the property.
On motion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized renewal of tile permit authorized
under date of March 5, 1937, for file erection of an autc)mobile service station on Lots 4 & 5
of Block 14 Tier 4.
On motion duly adopted, the Commission next approved revised fi`;ures covering two WPA
projects heretofore approved but returned for revis =.on, as follows:
Widening and relaying brick paving on Oak Ave. from lst St. South to
9th St., on Celery Ave. from Sanford Avenue East to Locust Avenue, and
relaying brick paving on Union Ave. from Sanford Ave. East 900 feet.

On motion duly adopted, the Commission nel.t authorized the purchase of three drums of
asphalt for use on the roof of the grandstand at the Municipal Athletic Field, it appearing that
the amount supplied by the Government was insufficient to finish this work.
Report next received from Sidney A. Stu'obs, Geologist, outl i ng the results obtained from
the `drilling of test wells as exploration for a nevi vrater supply for the City of Samford, and same
was ordered filed for further consideration.
Bill of I,1r. Stubbs for $93-70 covering -his serv=L ces in connect -oil with -tire foregoing
next presented and on motion duly adopted, same was approved and oa yment ordered.
On motion duly adopted tile Commiss .on next authorized the salary rates of Charlotte
Smith and Ellen Hoy, set at the meeting of Dec.285,1936,to be rude effective as of Oct-1,1936.
