092937MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 29 at 7 :30 P M19-3Z The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida., at 7:30 O'clock P.M. September 29, 1937. Present: Commissioner Edward Hi -gins, Mayor. if W.R.Dupree If A.v%Lee it W.A. Leffler It M.J.Lodge. City Attorney Fred R.'�ilson City Clerk F.S. Lamson. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Mr. H.H. Coleman, Local Manager, and Mr. A.B.Crosby, Tax Commissioner, Florida Power & Light•Company, then appeared with reference to the personal tax assessment for 1937 against thib company, claiming the assessment of $230,000.00 to be too high and requesting "a, reduction. Action deferred. Commissioner Dupree next introduced Resolution No. 520 and moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Leffler and carried by the following vote of the Commission: Commissioner Higgins Aye " Dupree Aye " Lee Aye " Leffler Aye " Lodge Aye said Resolution No. 520 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 520. A RESOLUTION' OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING ANY UNEXPENDED CASH SURPLUS ON HAND AT THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR 1936 -1937 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1937- 1938, FOR USE FOR THE ORDIyARY PURPOSES AND OPERATING EXPENSES OF SAID CITY. KHEREAS the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, deems it necessary, expedient and for the best interests of said City that any unexpended cash surplus as of September 30, 1937, of the operating revenues of said city for the fiscal year 1936 -1937 be appropriated for the ordinary purposes and operating expenses of said city in the budget for the fiscal year 1937 -1935: NOT, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, that any unexpended cash surplus as of September 30, 1937, of the operating revenues of said city for the fiscal year 1930 -1937 be and the same is hereby appro- priated to the Department of General Government of said city for the ordinary purposes and operating expenses of said city for the fiscal year 1937 -1935, and said cash surplus shall be incorporated in the Budget of revenues and expenditures of said city for said fiscal year 1937 -1935 for the ordinary purposes and operating expenses of said city. Lod -e ( Seal) As the City Commission of the City of yanford, Florida. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 29 at 7: 30 P 'GIL On motion duly adopted, the Clerk was next authorized and instructed to pay from Debt Service funds on hand $3400.00 to Dofnos Corporation, to apply on the X6800.00 Protective advanced the City by the City of Sanford Bondholders "40ommittee to settle the account of Hornblower, Miller, Miller & Boston, attorneys in the Chase National Bank Suit, payment to be made to Dofnos Corporation in view of the fact that the account has been assigned to it by the Bondholders' Protective Co:-miittee. On motion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized the execution and delivery of Refunding Bands Series A, numbers 4929,4939 and 4931, with coupons due March 1, 1938 and subsequent attached, together with cash payment of "11322.97, to E,B.Randall, Jr. in exchange for Bonds Nos 551,552,553 and 354, Series A -1, the cash payment including full settlement of all past due interest on said Series A -1 bonds as well as the purchase price of bond No. 551, the balance of the aeries A -1 bonds being refunded by the Series A Refunding Bonds. On motion duly adopted the Commission next authorized the purcha =se from ..L.Cooper and cancellation of Refunding Bonds , Series A, Numbers 3666/3670, at a price of $1350.00, and Ref unding Bonds Series A, Numbers 4051 -4055, at a. price of $1362.50 all such bonds being with coupons due March 1, 1938, and subsequent attached. On elotion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized the payment to "!,L.Cooper of $5303.00 as part payment on account of the purchase of bonds Nos 161 and 162, Series C. at a price of 331 cents on the dollar, flat. On motion duly adopted, the Clerk was next instructed to pay $10.00 per month until further notice to the Salvation Army to be used for furnishing meals and lodging for indigent transients. The Commission then proceeded to a further study of the budget for the fiscal year 1937 -1935, after which the meeting adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.M. September 3,1937. Attest: U a�� City Clerk. 291
