The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'Clock P.Y. November Sth.
1937.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Current invoices and payrolls for the month of October 1937, properly
audited- - &nd vouchered as evidenced by vouchers Nos. 9241 through 9332, submitted,
examined , approved and payment ordered.
Monthly reports of the streets, sanitation, health, water, police, fire and
library departments for the month of October , 1937 , submitted and examined.
Bank statements in all accounts for the month of Oetbbsr,', 19379 properly
reconciled, submitted and examined.
Minutes of regular meeting of the City Commission and meeting of the
Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board of October 25th, and adjourned meeting of
the City Commission and adjourned meeting Of the Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment
Board of October 27th , 1937 read and approved.
Bids next received for furnishing a standard police radio system for the
Police Department , as follows:

Commissioner Dupree next introduced Ordinance No. 260 entitled:

AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A PERMIT TO BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, FOR THE OPERATION FOR PROFIT OF ANY PLACE WHERE
DANCING IS ENGAGED IN, COMMONLY CALLED A " DANCE HALL ", AND PROVIDING FOR
THE REGULATION OFa3 UCH PLACES OF BUSINESS, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
and same was placed on its first reading and read in full by the Clerk.
Thereupon Commissioner Dupree moved that the rules be Aived and said Ordinance
No. 260 be placed on its final passage and adoption.

Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of
Sanford Florida , by unanimous vote, had passed and adopted said ordinance No. 260,, entitle
AN ORDINANCE REQURING A PERMIT TO BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA FOR THE OPERATION FOR PROFIT OF ANY PLACE
WHERE DANCING IS ENGAGED IN, COMMONLY CALLED A " DANCE HALL", and
PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF SUCH PLACES OF BUSINESS, AND PROVIDING

AND THE PAYMENT OF ANNUAL LICENSE TAXES THEREFOR TO THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SAID LICENSES, PRESCRIBING A
LICENSE YEAR FOR SUCH BUSINESSES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
-OF-: THIS ORDINANCE.
and same was placed upon its first reading and read in full by the Clerk.

Sanford Herald.
On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorised the discontinuance of
the overhead street light located at the intersection of Thirteenth St. and Park Ave.,
and the placing uaek in service of the all -night white way light located on the East
side of Cypress Avenue in San Lents. Subdivision midway between Plumosa Drive and
Valencia Street.
In connection with changes of street lights desired by the City from time
to time, the Clerk was next instructed to request the Florida Power & Light Co. that
such changes be made on. memorandum and then be embodied in one resolution at certain
intervals rather than to have a separate resolution every time a change is made.
Communication next read from the Chamber of Commerce advising that all funds
expected to be received during the present year had been allocated and that accordingly
none would be available for advertising in the Convention Issue of theFlorida Municipal
Record.
On motion duly adopted City Attorney Wilson was next instructed to prepare
form of easement to be executed by F.L.Woodruff allowing the City the right to construct
and maintain an electric transmission line across a portion of his property located in the
N.W. 1/4 of the S. E 1/4 of Sec. 2 Twp. 19 S.R. 30 E., this line being a portion of the
line to connect the City pumping station with the wells on the Orlando Highway.
Consideration next given to the need for further WPA projects after the ones
now in progress have been completed.
Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to have Engineer Fred T.Williams prepare
estimates of the cost of widening and repaving Park Avenue from Tenth St. to Twenty -third
St. and French Ave. from Seminole Boulevard to First St., and for paving Fifth St. from
Oak Ave. to Myrtle Ave., also, an estimate of the cost of construction of a Tourist Trailer
camp on the City owned property facing Seminole Boulevard and located immediately west
of Cloud Branch.
Communication next read from R.L. Glenn requesting payment of 112 of October
telephone bill totalling $8.35 for WPA telephone No 456 -W and on motion duly adopted,
same was approved.

Report of first test conducted by the Sanford Clinical Laboratories of Milk
from dairies operating within the City next presented, showing all well within the
requirements for Grade "A" Milk.
Bill of City Attorney Wilson for $158.23 covering expenses and fee for special
services next presented and ordered paid.
Request next received from S. Runge that one oak tree in the parkway on Seventh
Street and one in the parkway on Myrtle Avenue adjoining 701 Myrtle Avenue be removed
due to the trees being badly crowded.
Permission granted for-the owner of the property to remove these trees at his
own expense.
Commissioner Lodge next turned in $2.03 received from the Cemetery Beautifi-
cation Committee representing balance of cash on hand at the time the members of
this,Committee resigned.
Bill of 8.W Fruit Co. for $68.42 covering repairs to automobile damaged
by manhole in roadway being too high next presented.
Action deferred pending investigation.
In connection with the revenue certificates covering the deferred payments
on the machinery purchased from Fairbanks Morse & Co. for the Water Plant, the Clerk
was next instructed to notify Fairbanks Morse & Co. that action would be withheld
until the test had been run on this equi ]pment.
There being no further business, the meeting then adjourned, to immediately
re— convene as a Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board.
Thereupon the following adjustment of taxes for the year 1933 and prior was
authorized and approved:
Lot 8 Block 11 Chapman & Tucker's Addition.
The meeting then adjourned.
