Lamson Chief of Police R.G.Williams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of regular meeting of the City Commission and meeting of the Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board of February 25th. 1935, read and apprmoved. Current invoices and payrolls for the month of February 1935, properly audited and vouchered as evidenced by vouchers Nos 9627 through 9700, submitted, examined, approved and payment authorized. Monthly reports of the Streets, Sanitation, Health, Water, Police, Fire and Library Departments for the month of February, 1935, submitted and examined. Bank Statements in all accounts f orthe month of February 1935 properly reconcil submitted, and examined. Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during the month of February 1935, submitted and examined. Mr. F.A.Palmer next reported two major league baseball teams interested in Spring Tra.i n.ing at the Municipal Athletic Field. Matter referred to Commissioners Lee and Coleman to investigate. Tn.conni�ction':.with­the various WPA projects the Commission next authorized an application to the War Department for a. permit to construct a concrete wall around the proposed boat basin, the purchase of 5 tons of asphalt filler necessary to complete the repaving and widening of Celery Avenue, and the employment bit WPA of W.S.Earl to supervise the manufacture of concrete sewer pipe at the City -owned concrete pipe plant, this pipe to be used on the recently approved sewer project. On motion of Commissioner Dupree, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried the Commission next approved the purchase from W.A.Leff ler, as president of the Sanford Fish & Produce Co. of State & County Tax Certificates, sale of 1925, against Lots 3/10, 13 and 16/29 Block A, First Street Lxtension, for a flat sum of $300.00, this property being now a part of Fort Mellon Park and Mr. Leffler agreeing to sell his claim against these lots, which includes in addition the taxes for the years 1925, 1929 and 1930 , for this sum, representing his actual investment plus interest at 5 %, rather than approximately $1450.00 to which he would be legally entitled. � MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, March 14,7:30 P M_19 39 On motion of Commissioner Dupree, seconded by Commissioner Lee and carried the Commission next authorized the payment of $5.00 per month as rental for a room in the Arcade Building for use by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Farm Security Administration, it appearing that the benefits being derived by the City from this Federal Agency warrant such an expenditure. Application next received from airs Lydia TenEyak,_to be allowed to purchase from the City one or two lots adjoining her home in Bel Air Subdivision, these lots having been acquired by the City through foreclosure of tax and street paving liens. Thereupon, after careful consideration, the Commission authorized the sale to Mrs. TenEyck of these lots at a price of V5.00 each, subject to any unpaid State and County taxes, the same action also being taken with reference to the sale of several lots in this subdivision to Mr. C.A.Partin from whom application was received at a previous meeting. Application next received f romMr. C.A.Anderson for permit to move a one story residence from the northwest corner of Thirteenth St. and French Ave., to the Northwest corner of Tenth St. and French Ave. but'.'due to the fact that French Ave. is heavily traveled, application referred to the Mayor to investigate. Communication next read from H.M.Watson, President of the Sanford Baseball Association, requesting that the City furnish labor to whitewash the Municipal Athletic Field fence on both siqles, the Baseball Association to furnish all materials necessary. Request approved. fir. H. James Gut next reported that it had been necessary to drive the casing in well No. 5 a distance of 9 feet to seat it in the rock before bailing out the sand and shell; that this.was done, the well bailed out and now giving clear water, the total cost being $149.21, including supervision. Bill of A.C. Jones amounting to $108.88 for bailing out well No. 5 and furnishing 4 feet of 8" pipe and one S" coupling, and bill of H. James Gut amounting to $19.45, for supervision of this work, next presented and on motion duly adopted, approved and payment ordered. Bids next received from the Sinclair Refining Co., Standard Oil Co., Gulf Oil Corporation, and H.B.Pope Co. Inc., to furnish fuel distillate for the diesel engines at the Municipal Water Plant during the ensuing year, all such bids being the same, to -wit: current posted spot price date of shipment with a top price during the year of 6J cents per gal., all prices being f.o.b. Port Tampa, Florida. Thereupon, after eDnsiderable discussion and on motion duly adopted, contract was awarded to H.B.Pope Co., Inc. Consideration next given to the fact that the plat of Lakeview Cemetery, purchased from T.J. Miller, F.L. Miller and the Sanford Cemetery Co. under date of never Sept 13, 1927, had/been placed on record. Thereupon, on motion duly adopted, said plat was ordered recorded in the records of Seminole County, Florida. 11 1 1 1 1 1 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, March 14, 7:30 P M 198 Judge E.F.Housholder, County Attorney, next advised that the Board of County Commissioners had recommended that the City cancel the street paving liens for the aving on the County Club Road f rdm the present City limits to the crossing of the A.C.L. =,;,,R. P.. Co. and on Hardy Ave. from the Country Club Road to Geneva St., in exchange for deed to right -of -way for these streets, it appearing that at the time this paving was laid, no deed was obtained for the right -of -way, thus making it impossible to obtain a Federal W.P.A. project for the rep6.ving of these streets unless such deed is now obtained. CD Thereupon Judge Housholder presented a proposed resolution covering the cancella- tion. of these liens , which was referred to City Attorney Wilson for opinion. The Commission was next advised that the appropriation for the Division of Engin- eering had been expended, and on mobion duly adopted $500.00 additional was ordered trans- ferred to this Division from the Contingent Fund. City Attorney Wilson next presented correspnndence with the Federal Reserve Bank at Atlanta, advising that the said Federal Reserve Bank will issue Depository Receipts direct to the City for bonds deposited therewith by the Sanford Atlantic National Bank as security for funds on deposit in said Bank. Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to handle with the 0anf ord Atlantic National Bank with a view to having the security now deposited with the Atlantic National Bank at Jacksonville transferred to the Federal Reserve Bank at Atlanta. On motion duly adopted, the Commission next.authorized the payment of $250.00 to City Attorney Wilson on account for services in various tax foreclosures and interest coupons suits now before the Courts. There being no further business, the meeting then adjourned'to immediately re- convene as a. Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board.
