052138MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFO,RD, FLORIDA, May 21 at 11 A.M. -19--3-9 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 11 o'clock A.M. May 21,1935. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor If Walter S. Coleman " W.R.Dupree " A.W.Lee if M J Lodge City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk F.S.Lamson Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to consider application to be made to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation at Washington D.C. for funds with which to finance the purchase and installation of a new pipe line from the wells to the Municipal reservoir and water pumping station ; also the erection of a power line from the pumping station to Fort Mellon Park and the instal- lation of electric lighting equipment in this Park, this part of the project being in order to utilize surplus energy generated by the electric generators at the water pumping station. Thereupon the Clerk presented estimates prepared by Engineer Fred T. Williams showing the total estimated cost of such project to be $67,23+•35- Thereupon Commissioner Lee introduced Resolution No. 530 and moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Dupree and carried by the following vote of the Commission: Commissioner Higgins 'Aye If Coleman Aye " Dupree Aye " Lee Aye " Lodge Aye. said Resolution No. 530 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION N0. 530. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO FILE AN APPLICATION WITH RECONSTRUCTION FINANCE CORPORATION FOR A LOAN TO AID IN FINANCING THE CONSTRUCTION OF MATER PIPE LINE, ELECTRIC POKER LINE AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT AND DESIGNATING THE RAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO FURNISH SUCH INFORMATION AS RECONSTRUCTION FINANCE CORPORATION MAY REQUEST. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are authorized to execute and file an application on behalf of the City of Sanford, Florida, with Reconstruction Finance Corporation for a loan to aid in financing the construction of water pipe line, electric power line and lighting equipment in said city. Section 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to furnish such information as Reconstruction Finance Corporation may reasonably request in connection with the application, which is herein authorized to be filed. SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage -and adoption. On motion of Commissioner Lodge , seconded by Commissioner Dupree and carried the Commission next authorized the payment of all necessary expenses to be incurred by the Mayor and Clerk in connection with the presentation of the foregoing application, as well as that covering the purchase of unrefunded bonds, to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Washington D.C. In connection with instructions heretofore issued, Engineer Williams next presented WPA application covering relaying and widening brick paving on Palmetto Avenue between First and Second Streets, Oak Avenue between Eighth and Ninth Street and Sixth St. from Oak Ave. west 131 feet; relaying pavement on Oak Avenue from Ninth St. to Tenth St.; paving of Fifth St. between Myrtle Ave. and Elm Ave.; con- crete sidewalks in business section to be repaired and extended to curb where streets have been widened, the total cost of the project being $10,793.00 of which the City's share is $4075.00 Thereupon Commissioner Coleman moved that the project be approved and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute said application on the part of the City.. Seconded by Commissioner Dupree and carried. City Attorney Wilson next advised the Commission of the acceptance by Riddle & Putnam of the proposition authorized at the meeting of May 16th., 1935, with respect to the suits being brought on State and County Certificates, sale of 1925, on various parcels of property against which City taxes and special assessments are unpaid.
