Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Commission and Meeting of the Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board of June 13th. , Adjourned Meeting of the City Commission- of June 14th. and Regular Meeting of the City Commission of June 27th. 1935 read and approved. Mr. W.R. McCracken, Director of Physical Education for the Sanford public schools, next outlined the plan to organize a baseball team made up of boys in the City of high school age or thereabouts, to be entered in a district tournament to be held in Daytona Beach , and requested assistance from the City, to the extent of $15.00 for balls, bats and registration fee. purpose. Thereupon Commissioner Coleman moved that the City donate $15.00 for this Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. The Clerk next presented tentative budget of revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year 19381939, and same was taken under consideration and study. On motion duly adopted, the Clerk was next authorized to open a new account at the Sanford Atlantic National Bank to be entitled City of Sanford Certificate of Indebtedness Redemption Account, and to deposit therein the sum of $3057.75, to be aged to retire the Certificates of Indebtedness due July 1, 1935, the Bank to be authorized to pay such certificates of indebtedness as they are presented for payment and charge to this account. On motion duly adopted the Commission next approved the sale of Lot 12 Block 7 Bel Air Subdivision to C A. Partain for $75.00 , subject to any unpaid State and County Taxes, this price having been set at a previous meeting of the Board. Consideration next given to the need for two 3 inch artesion wells in the development of Fort Mellon Park, it appearing that al',6though included in the WPA project covering this development, the Government will not be able to pay for same. Matter referred to Commissioner Le- and City Clerk Lamson with instructions to- obtain bids for this work and award the =t=W, t1W the lowest and best bidder. Consideration next given to the traffic hazard existing at the intersection of Thirteenth St. and French Avenue, the tracks of the Atlantic Coast Line R.R. Co. also crossing at this point. 408 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, June 2g at 7: 30 P M 9 3� Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to hafhdle with the Railroad Company with a view to working out a plan whereby if a " Stop and Go" signal is installed by the City at this intersection , the Company will install a switch to be operated by a member of the train crew, stopping all traffic at this point until the train has passed. With reference to the offer of Mrs. W.M. Collins to deed to the City all of Block 30, Mellonville, in exchange for the cancellation.of taxes and special assessments held by the City against her home, described as Block 24 Mellonville, Commissioner Coleman next recommended that the offer be accepted, final action, however, to be deferred until after October lst. next. Recommendation accepted. On motion duly adopted, the Mayor and Clerk were next authorized to execute a satisfaction of an old paving lien standing open on the records of Orange County, Florida, against Lot 6 Block 3 Tier 3, due to there being no record on the books of the City of such lien being unpaid. - Application next received from John Rieger at 1319 Celery Ave, and Mary Walker, at Busy Bee Cafe on W,. 13th St., for permit to sell beer and wines, and on recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, same were approved. Mrs C.D.Tew next applied for permit to wreck several of her houses on West Third St., against which the City holds tax and street paving liens, the proceeds from the sale of these houses to be applied on her taxes. Application approved. Petition next presented by C.H.Shaff er for appointment as police officer, and same was referred to Chief of Police Williams. There being no further business the meeting then adourned until 7 :30 o'clock P.M. July 4th., after which the Board immediately re- convened as a Municipal Delinquent Tax ' Adjustment Board.
