Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to
confer with Mr. C. E. Bradshaw, President of the Seminole County Baseball Association, Inc.,
with respect to the financial condition of the Sanford Baseball Team and steps necessary to
maintain the team in Sanford during the balance of the current season and thus retain the fran-
chise in the Florida State League.
Mr. Bradshaw then outlined the benefits accruing to Sanford as well as recreation afforded
its citizens by reason of having a baseball team in the Florida State League, and at the same
time the widespread unfavorable publicity which the City would get should this franchise be lost.
He also pointed out other Cities in the State that are anxious to obtain this franchise, con-
sidering it a valuable asset to any community, and that the other Cities now in the League are
assisting their teams for that reason. In addition he outlined the plans of Class A minor league
teams training in Central Florida to inaugurate a regular schedule of games during the 1939
training season, the gate receipts from these games to be turned over to the home clubs, and that
arrangements were being made to have the Chattanooga. Baseball Team as Sanford's entry in this
league.
In view of the foregoing, and feeling that the revenues from this series of games will more
than offset any deficit that the Sanford club may have during the present season, Mr. Bradshaw
hen offered to advance as a loan against such anticipated revenues one -half of any excess of
enses of the Sanford Baseball team during the current season over revenues, provided the
1. (City would advance the balance necessary.
Thereupon Commissioner Lodge moved that Mr. Bra.dshaw's offer be accepted, any funds advanced
y the City to be considered as a loan against the net revenues of the Club either during the
urrent season or thereafter.
Seconded by Commissioner Coleman and carried.
The meeting then adjourned.
